Coffee Quality

Pros:

  • "Had a coconut cappuccino (my usual) and it was one of the best coffees I can remember having."
  • "Great coffee without fuss."
  • "their coffee blends and pour overs are fantastic."
  • "Great coffee, and possibly the best espresso martini in London."
  • "Soho Grind's flat whites are full of taste and depth and the quality of the coffee and the process are of excellent standard."
  • "The coffee itself is great. Would definitely go back again!"
  • "I have to say, the coffee I had in Grind was absolutely top-notch! And let me tell you, Jammy, the coffee magician, really knows how to work that brew."

Cons:

  • "The coffee was awful. I ordered an oat latte but was served a vanilla oat latte that was extremely oversweetened."
  • "Sadly, I have to say this was one of the most watered down lattes I’ve ever had."
  • "Brews were either bitter, watery or lacking body and supremely average for the prices asked."
  • "Weak, bland coffee, no aroma."
  • "their coffee suuuuuuucks - it’s so acidic too the point of it being not drinkable."
  • "What I was given tasted like they had squeezed out half a lemon into the espresso! Disgusting and misleading!"
  • "I had high hopes for this one but didn’t enjoy the coffee at all."

Service

Pros:

  • "Service was great and staff very helpful."
  • "Staff appeared friendly and willing to help."
  • "The waitress was amazing, was so knowledgeable about the drinks and gave great suggestions."
  • "Popped in today after a while to grab my (not) coffee and had the lovely Jamie and Dorothea greet me, had a lovely chat while I waited and got my drink the way I liked!"
  • "Jack the manager is so friendly and welcoming, as are the rest of the staff!"
  • "Exceptional service from all of the gang! Big shout out to Team Soho: Lydia, Jack, Fabio, Chloe, Teeza, Katy, Jamie and Dorothea!"
  • "Fabulous coffee, friendly staff."

Cons:

  • "Very passive-aggressive at first, then outright rude. Never coming back."
  • "Good coffee but very slow service. The two barista girls on Thursday afternoon are super rude and unbothered."
  • "Really rude and impolite interaction with the staff."
  • "The service was rude too. I recommend avoiding this place."
  • "Eventually after complaining we got our coffee if we had not complained I doubt we would have got it won't be back."
  • "Great coffee crap service despite taking our money and cocking up our order for two piccolos."
  • "What I didn't like was the guy behind the counter seemed to want to make me rush my order."

Ambiance and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Rough, rusty looking ambiance but welcoming nonetheless."
  • "Really cool music and the staff members are very nice."
  • "Very peaceful and the music leaks in softly."
  • "Lovely little coffee place with a wicked vibe in the centre of Soho."
  • "Follow the neon lighting down the stairs into the coolest, fairly snug, bar."
  • "Cosy and easy to catch up with friends."
  • "I have to say that this is one of the best coffee shops that I visited during my recent trip to London. To start off, I absolutely love the décor with the various neon signs that are super Instagrammable."

Cons:

  • "However, the spacing is a bit tight and not well ventilated - not that bad but too cramped."
  • "Not much room inside to sit and hang out."
  • "Maybe I'm getting old but the music is too loud for regular conversation."
  • "Only issue is there’s a restaurant next door that draws a massive queue at lunch making it difficult to enter."
  • "It's loud and cramped though, I wouldn't be able to work / read here."
  • "Visited this place with some friends. We went down to the cocktail lounge, but unfortunately it was already quite full so we had to sit a bit cramped."
  • "OK coffee, but the atmosphere, service, music and comfort aren't up there with either the rest of the coffee places in Soho."

Price and Value

Pros:

  • "If you pick up a black loyalty card from the coffee shop upstairs, they do a special deal certain nights of the week with all cocktails for a fiver! Bargain!"
  • "Great coffee done right all the time."
  • "Wonderfully kind team with good humour, and exquisitely brewed coffees. What's not to love?"
  • "Best team in all of Soho."
  • "I am not fond of eating sweets but the banana cake is delicious, a must try!"
  • "They do a great range of tapas style snacks that are great for sharing."
  • "Very cool and petite underground cocktail bar which wasn’t busy at all considering a Saturday night."

Cons:

  • "I paid £4.20 for the saddest iced turmeric latte and my friend paid £5 for a tiny bottled green smoothie."
  • "They seem quite apologetic of the extortionate prices."
  • "Slightly on the pricier side for tea/coffee and cake."
  • "Used to come here a lot for coffee as I work in the area. However, was recently charged service on top of an already overpriced coffee. I think this is grasping and absolutely rank so will not be returning."
  • "coffee is nice but a bit ‘expensive’ tasting if y’know what I mean."
  • "Really expensive for what it is!!"
  • "maybe a bit overpriced for the size of the cup."
