Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The food was delicious, such fresh produce used and amazing flavours."
  • "All three courses were delicious."
  • "The Pomme Anne are LIFE CHANGING. the trout and horseradish marscapone is very delicious."
  • "Inventive and delicious food."
  • "Exceptional food and perfect service. Beautifully fresh ingredients imaginatively and lovingly put together."
  • "The food was phenomenal, highly recommend the veil. Was so tasty."
  • "Amazing quality food, prepared to perfection. Best Pom Anna potatoes ever."
  • "The food is very tasty. I often feel something is missing when dining out but the seasoning was just spot on and all dishes perfectly cooked and balanced."

Cons:

  • "The only dish we weren’t so keen on was the black pudding."
  • "The menu is seasonal and always offers some unexpected choices. I had the puntarelle alla romana - which made for a really delicious starter - I loved it so much I could eat it all the time. My main of pansotti of salt baked swede was a bit of a let down though - essentially swede ravioli in a broth, rather flavourless and unsubstantial."
  • "Very nice place, good location good vibes, but the food was just very disappointing. For the price, I would have expected much better quality. No seasoning, undercooked pasta, overcooked vegetables and fish."
  • "The Sunday lunch was pitiful in my opinion. The meat was sort of tender but really the display as it sat amongst thin weedy gravy was not a good look."
  • "The Hake on the main course was delicious as was the chocolate mousse, however the apricots weren't pleasant at all ... (the whole table commented on it) Its also never a good sign when the fruit outweighs the chocolate 2:1."
  • "Service was terrible and negative. Food was very disappointing including the sharing steak which was a minute portion on a plate rather than a sharing board."

Service Quality

Pros:

  • "The staff were exceptional, really friendly and excellent service!"
  • "Staff were all great too - very friendly yet efficient."
  • "James, Faye and Rob are magnificent at what they do, as are all of the team."
  • "The friendly staff were all too keen to make us feel welcome and accommodate for gluten intolerance."
  • "Service was casual and extremely friendly. Our server was spot on with all recommendations."
  • "A lovely place to have dinner."
  • "The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was romantic and felt quite intimate."

Cons:

  • "The only dark spot on this otherwise perfect evening was an awkward welcome and goodbye by a presumably intoxicated staff member."
  • "Service was attentive, but felt like we were being rushed at the start to make sure we order and get out so they can turn the table over."
  • "The staff was nice, but extremely meagre portions. The one criticism was my husband has a small sediment of glass at the bottom of his glass, it certainly wasn't taken seriously..waitress no apology was offered an extra drink."
  • "Service was terrible and negative."
  • "Ordered starter of Ham hock terrine which came with no bread. Had to ask for bread which took over 10 minutes to come so we were left staring at our food for ages. Not the best start."

Ambiance and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Loved the cosy vibe, great for a casual date night."
  • "Very good apple tart and ice cream. Great service, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff."
  • "We had the three-course set menu, which was an amazing bargain, especially for the quality of the cooking and ingredients."
  • "A very nice little restaurant, with a light and airy decor."
  • "We hired the private dining space for my 40th birthday, where we celebrated with 25 members of my friends and family. I cannot fault the food, service and atmosphere."
  • "The atmosphere was romantic and felt quite intimate."
  • "A warm, intimate, friendly atmosphere, grown-up. Pricey, but worth it."

Cons:

  • "The atmosphere was a little odd, we were sitting on the bench seats and the tables way too close together, you could literally hear others chewing."
  • "The food was nice, but the atmosphere in the restaurant was not very pleasant. It was too loud and crowded."
  • "The decor is pretty minimalist which I like, but it felt a bit too sparse and cold."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "We had the three-course set menu, which was an amazing bargain, especially for the quality of the cooking and ingredients."
  • "The meals are from ingredients and plating interesting enough to feel like you've gone somewhere extravagant, but at a middle price point that means you don't need a second mortgage."
  • "A very nice little restaurant, with a light and airy decor. We did the 2-course lunch menu."
  • "We had a family dinner and enjoyed ourselves very much. The service in the upstairs dining room was excellent. Food was well prepared and well presented."

Cons:

  • "It's on the pricier side, but worth it. The sourdough bread is to die for."
  • "I feel for the prices portions could be a tad bigger as they are rather small and for £24 odd pounds the swede pasta just wasn't acceptable."
  • "Pricey (wines by the glass £11 - £24!) fine dining which promised a great deal based on reviews but which didn't overwhelm in terms of food."
  • "Emperors clothes come to mind! Lovely restaurant and welcoming pleasant staff BUT such small portions for a very high price!"
