Visitor Experience

Pros:

  • "Amazing experience visiting the ancient Castle. All the areas were so beautiful and well kept."
  • "A wonderful fun filled day for all the family."
  • "The peacock’s garden was stunning and the birds were everywhere."
  • "Definitely worth a visit."
  • "Impressive place for visit."
  • "We had a lovely day out there. Grounds are massive and well looked after."
  • "There's so much to see, we spent a couple of hours there but could easily have stayed longer."
  • "We visited last week on a week day and there wasn't any wait."

Cons:

  • "The staff are there to do their job, they are not volunteers, they won’t be helpful with history and knowledge."
  • "It is well maintained and beautiful in its way, but disappointingly overcrowded."
  • "We visited the cafe which was very busy, unfortunately table service wasn’t available."
  • "Really nice experience, lots of steps. Would of been better if the weather was nicer."
  • "Little bit expensive on 29th of December (£32 for entrance and £6 for the car park)."
  • "Although there are a lot of stairs involved in some parts and all areas are not wheel chair or stroller accessible."
  • "I greatly enjoyed my trip to Warwick Castle, however I felt as though events and places to visit weren’t greatly advertised."
  • "Parking was ridiculous, full within hours and the secondary car park is quite a distance away."

Cost and Value

Pros:

  • "If you book tickets in advance they are cheaper."
  • "If you want to save money, you can get an annual pass which will include entry to all Merlin entertainment sites."
  • "Lots of things to do and the Falconer Quest spectacle is simply awesome."
  • "We had a great day out at the Halloween themed event."
  • "Been to Warwick castle 4 times this year with our Merlin pass and stayed in the cabins twice."
  • "Visited again for the Christmas Lights Trail, which we found to be good value for money."
  • "A lovely experience with lots to do."
  • "An interesting and well maintained castle with a few activities to keep kids entertained."

Cons:

  • "The site is managed by Merlin entertainment. So don’t expect to visit castle and enjoy the scenery and views."
  • "Buying at the entry will cost you twice the amount. Car park is being charged at a flat rate of £6."
  • "Beautiful experience, I will admit it’s overpriced at £40pp (excluding the dungeons - an additional £10pp)."
  • "For a good experience, I should choose a sunny day to visit inclusive the places near the castle."
  • "Shame Christmas is about making money and not for families to enjoy."
  • "Fantastic but too expensive."
  • "Parking was ridiculous, full within hours and the secondary car park is quite a distance away."
  • "The castle is OK, the day out is more about the shows that are added on, which either cost more or you spend time waiting for which isn't ideal with young kids."

Activities and Entertainment

Pros:

  • "The dungeon was also great and we had a tour guide who explained everything to us!"
  • "Brilliant visit for Christmas. The castle has lots to see and do!"
  • "We visited for the ice skating and Christmas light trail as well."
  • "The ice skating was fantastic! Quality service and good hygiene practices in place for the skates."
  • "The Christmas trail was beautiful, long enough but not too long."
  • "We watched a bird show which too was lovely however the speakers mic could of been louder as you couldn't hear very well."
  • "We did the walk up around the wall and then looked through some of the exhibits. The Christmas market they had on was great as well!"
  • "Good tour of this castle. Lots to see and explore."

Cons:

  • "Went for Christmas with my daughter we completed it 2hrs. There are other things to do but at a price, £20+ each for a light walk outside castle."
  • "The ice skating was fantastic! However, my complaint as with any ice rink is the amount of young children allowed on the ice."
  • "Christmas at the castle- Didn’t do the castle as regular visitor. Just went for the light trail. No real story, spent more time queuing than walking compared to Blenheim."
  • "I felt as though the event was more directed towards children and I felt like there was little to nothing for me to do there."
  • "The castle is OK, the day out is more about the shows that are added on, which either cost more or you spend time waiting for which isn't ideal with young kids."
  • "One whole day wouldn't be enough to see everything."
  • "Christmas Lights Trail, which we found to be good value for money. A good variety of food stalls, a little expensive."
  • "Enjoyable day out, considering not every attraction was on, but this is to be expected as of the time of year."
