Food Quality and Taste
Pros:
"The standout dish for me was the Khas Lamb Shank. It was an absolute treat for the taste buds."
"Superb South Asian food. Top dishes: chaat, pepper, prawns, lamb paratha, lamb biriyani."
"The chilli paneer was so good! And we thoroughly enjoyed the chaat as well."
"The prawns curry is a must have!"
"The food was delicious, especially the flamed king prawns, mushrooms, chickpea side, lamb chops, salmon, lamb tikka masala, butter chicken and chocolate bomb dessert."
Cons:
"The biryani, in particular, was a letdown. It felt as though the kitchen had taken a shortcut by using ready-made seasoning."
"The saag aloo we were excited about but it was a bit bland, maybe some chilli's would have given it more flavour."
"The mains were terrible. They lacked flavour and didn't taste great at all."
"The food portions are small for such a high cost."
"The lamb shank was not nice at all, the lamb chop starter was OK but I've had much better elsewhere."
Ambiance and Decor
Pros:
"The atmosphere was outgoing, urban chic. The decorations were modern and gorgeous."
"Lovely, moody, relaxing atmosphere."
"The interior decoration was awesome and the presence of DJ made the atmosphere really electric."
"Beautiful restaurant in a very central London location - lovely ambience."
"The interior of the restaurant is really cool."
Cons:
"Ambience doesn’t do the justice to the restaurant’s name."
"Live DJ was playing music so loud I had to shout at the waiter when placing order for drinks, starter and mains."
"It felt like a club than a restaurant. Definitely wouldn’t recommend bringing children."
"The place itself amazing… the decor, the lighting etc... What was disappointing was the food, staff friendly but very impatient."
"The music is much too loud, I couldn’t even hold a conversation with the other people on my table."
Service
Pros:
"Sam the waiter was amazing. And hats off to the head chef."
"The staff were flexible, pleasant and friendly."
"Staff was very friendly and welcoming. All the waiters and waitresses were trained very well and always had a smile on their face."
"The service was efficient and quick but for us the star of the show was the amazing food!"
"The service was incredible, we had the manager and other staff members come and check up on us and engaging in conversation every so often."
Cons:
"Not good customer service, some staff were nice but others were more concerned to clear out the table rather than giving people time to enjoy meal."
"Service is 0 stars the servers look dirty not even ironed there shirts and had a shave."
"But when we felt rushed, it really killed the mood."
"The service staff are a credit to the restaurant which is very much welcome, they are attentive and try to make your stay there a nice one."
"The waiters/waitresses looked miserable as if they hated their job."
Price and Value
Pros:
"Absolutely fantastic vibes and service. the food is great, good quality, size and options👌 price is above the standard for Indian cuisine, but the dishes are better too, so fair."
"As it is in central London so prices are on higher side but they gives you quality food and awesome service so no complaints."
"The food was good but considering the price, I was expecting something much better."
"The pricing is inline with the other Restaurants in the area. No one felt like it was overpriced for what they received."
"In terms of value for money, 1947 restaurant is definitely worth a visit."
Cons:
"Super expensive but not worth the money."
"I paid £176+ for Two Starters, Two cocktails and Two mains with a side of garlic naan."
"Food is overpriced, portions are nice in taste but very small."
"This place is very expensive for what it offers and I think more refining is needed to really make it stand out as an amazing Indian fine dining restaurant."
"The food portions are small for such a high cost."
