Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "Friendly staff greeted me and I found a nice seat."
  • "Very friendly staff and a good selection of ales."
  • "The service was superb, Julia in particular was outstanding, warm, friendly, efficient and entertaining."
  • "Danny our waiter was most helpful."
  • "All the staff are extremely lovely and very helpful giving genuinely great service!"
  • "The staff that work here are really friendly, warm and happy to chat."
  • "The staff were very attentive and engaged us in conversation."

Cons:

  • "We waited for menu for good 20 mins till finally my friend went to take menus by herself."
  • "Unfortunately we were there 1 hour and 10 mins until we received our food."
  • "Nobody took order and nobody paid attention to our table for next 20 mins."
  • "Emailed to book a table for a group of 12 people, told unless we were eating couldn't book, which is fair enough, but could turn up and see if a table was free. However when the first 3 of the 12 arrived a bit early we sat at an empty table and were told is was reserved, again fine we moved. The second time this happened the staff seemed gleefully pleased to tell us we couldn't sit there, and told us we should have booked one."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Very good food, steak burger was very juicy."
  • "Food quality was very good and very tasty."
  • "The food was amazing, the service was quick and the staff were all so friendly."
  • "Tapas was absolutely fantastic; my boyfriend and I are vegetarians and we were really impressed with the variety available."
  • "The food was lovely, really high quality and very tasty, brought out promptly and by brilliant staff."
  • "The food was amazing and had the Macaroni Cheese Royale (with smoked salmon) and decent portion sizes too."
  • "The food was excellent, we had a variety of different dishes and each one was fantastic."

Cons:

  • "Food disappointing. Tasteless hummus, inedible flatbread with it, veg pakora full of chili but no other flavour - so hot it hurt."
  • "Unfortunately the mixed roast was lacking. I was not asked how I wanted my beef done the veg was tasteless the roast potatoes tasted like yesterday’s and my meal was drowned in gravy."
  • "The pork tacos though were a little disappointing as the flavour didn't seem quite right."
  • "The mains were just confusing. The seabass was nice but the 'chips' that came with it seemed undercooked and bland."
  • "Food is a bit of a gamble as portions are small."
  • "Visited again 2 weeks ago for Sunday lunch and was really dissapointed, vegetables were over cooked as were the roast potatoes. The whole meal was just about warm."
  • "The tapas was definitely better than the mains but in my opinion, unfortunately still unimaginative, underwhelming and overpriced."

Atmosphere and Decor

Pros:

  • "Great atmosphere, decently priced drinks."
  • "Lovely inviting place with great seating options for small as well as bigger groups, great atmosphere and friendly staff."
  • "The artwork, and themes and decor is awesome."
  • "Loads of atmosphere and a nice level of quirk, despite the relatively unassuming exterior."
  • "We loved the decor and wandered around looking at all the comic books and features 😍"
  • "The atmosphere is wonderful and the decor interesting."
  • "What an interesting venue to go for lunch or a pint. Love the style, the posters and the bright Led sign downstairs."

Cons:

  • "Outdoor area is completely open with no shelter or heating."
  • "The environment was extremely loud - I was shouting to someone sat opposite me."
  • "It can be quite echoey/noisy when it is busy."
  • "High chairs bouncy and cold draft every time the door opens which was a lot of times."
  • "We ended up on the tired deflated leather sofas."
  • "Not very accessible for mums with prams."
  • "Only reason not 5 stars is that access to the baby changing facilities (in ladies restroom) was through 2 closely packed doors, which were impossible to navigate with a pushchair/pram and very difficult with a 3 month old in arms."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "They offer a really tasty DRAFT zero alcohol beer which is rare and much appreciated especially if driving."

  • "Friendly staff and lovely food on offer, all reasonably priced."
  • "The price, of food and drink, was very reasonable for what you get! Would fully recommend to anyone in the area!"
  • "Prices are brilliant. Around Β£12 for a small roast dinner (which was plenty big enough) where you get the freshest ingredients and tender meat."

Cons:

  • "Drinks are expensive."
  • "Tonight however was rather taken aback when charged Β£6.80 for a local session ipa beer (Purity) when the other beers we ordered were the same brewery and similar abv, and were less than Β£5, the cost of the ipa was absolutely ridiculous. Felt like a total rip off."
  • "Let down was on the food which tasted good but the portions and price were very steep compared to other places."
  • "Some of the main dishes were quite pricey."
  • "It loses one star for the price which scuppers the place a bit."
