  • "Margot was wonderful and patient with us, we had a good old catch up, she was just the perfect amount of being there when we needed her."
  • "Our visits are always made extra special if Amy is serving us."
  • "Adam Hammond went above and beyond to make sure we were all sat together as there was 20 of us."
  • "our waiter, think his name was marcus? (he had short brown curlyish hair) showed exemplary service, was always there when we needed anything and, it doesn't happen often but made me laugh."
  • "Despite a hectic evening, the service was excellent. Ella was so friendly and helpful we enjoyed be served by her."
  • "Sam our server could not have been more polite, helpful."

Cons:

  • "After waiting 25 minutes for a table that had pre-booked was not a good start."
  • "We felt rushed and when we had a question they would just walk away and come back ten minutes later so was difficult to get our order in one go."
  • "Waitresses were pleasant but seemed more concerned with being chatted up by customers."
  • "Staff refused to honour the voucher at the time of payment and I was advised to contact Mitchells & Butlers Guest Care Team."
  • "We finally got our starter after an hour. I had the calamari but the black hair I found under the food was enough to stop me eating the rest of it."
  • "Service was unacceptably slow - children were so bored waiting for food that it spoilt a family meal."
  • "The service was very slow, and we had to keep asking for assistance."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The food was of a very high standard and very tasty."
  • "Food was quick and beautiful and the Cuban Mai tai cocktail was amazing."
  • "The food was really tasty and a good price and great portions."
  • "The food was lovely, and I always give high praise to a team who make sure that the younger members of our group were looked after by making sure their food comes out first and supplying activities at the table to keep them amused."
  • "Everything was tasty especially the burgers and the drinks were well chilled."
  • "Really fantastic Sunday roasts and a chocolate brownie to die for!"
  • "The CunningMan served up Good quality Turkey and enough of it, excellent gravy, very tasty vegetables perfectly cooked."

Cons:

  • "While I can’t say the food wasn’t great. I was less then impressed with the two measly slivers of beef I received with my Sunday lunch."
  • "The lasagne and duo lamb was undersized portion and nothing inspiring."
  • "Also the Caesar’s salad was not we expected for the price."
  • "The food was ok for the price though not particularly hot and it was a long wait."
  • "The main course wasn't great. The roast dinner was all reheated, which wasn't great as we had an early sitting and was left."
  • "Food was good, except the Garlic King prawns add on for the steak weren't Garlic or King size."
  • "The food was mediocre at best. Prawn cocktail was quite sad - had very few prawns and very little sauce - they did give more sauce when asked. The calamari was soggy. The chips with our mains were cold."

Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "The pub lived to my expectations, it’s a very old looking building, but beautifully lit up in the dark."
  • "It’s really nice sat outside by the canal when it’s sunny."
  • "The atmosphere is great though, very cosy and friendly with well spaced tables and cosy dining areas throughout, there’s not really a bad place to sit."
  • "An eclectic mix of framed pictures, open fire, fairy lights, fresh flowers and candle on all tables."
  • "The atmosphere was relaxed and and service was efficient and friendly."
  • "For sunny days there is a beer garden and for ugly-weather days, the indoor is amazingly cosy with fireplace and lights."

Cons:

  • "They appeared to be going for a more upmarket vibe which meant we felt a bit out of place in of our outdoor clothing and footwear."
  • "In terms of atmosphere, the seating arrangement was very cramped."
  • "There were a lot of dogs outside at various tables, some were barking constantly at anything that moved."
  • "Having to try and eat your dinner whilst other guests are literally stood right next to you drinking as there was nowhere else for them to stand!"
  • "I felt embarrassed about the food and the place outside where we were sitting on broken wooden chairs with bird dirt on them."
  • "Small suggestion, background music was a bit loud."
  • "The only downside was when we left, we had to walk through a cloud of smoke from smokers stood by the doorway."
