Cons:
"Not everyone wants festive menu after Christmas having had enough of turkey etc otherwise we would have eaten there each night."
"The chef needs a few lessons in cooking or maybe get a chef who knows what he’s doing."
"I ordered a steak one and it had the thinnest piece of steak I have ever seen, for £10.50 I expected a bit more! Was very dry."
"Both of our meals the meat was not tender at all."
"BLAND, BLAND, BLAND. Just had a Christmas Dinner, absolutely awful, vegetables so al dente I could not cut the cauliflower."

Ambiance & Location

"Stunning location with walks along the river dove to dovedale and Thorpe."
"Lovely little pub hidden away in the hills."
Cons:
"The only tiny irritant was the pub dog barking early each morning."
"The door to get in is poorly lit and not very welcoming, or obvious, so much so that we walked past it initially."
"Absolutely no festive atmosphere."
"The surface of the beer garden is difficult to walk on especially with hands full of drinks."
"Since removing the seating by the entrance cars are now parking right outside the entrance making it difficult to walk out."
"Extremely poor. No thought was given to put warning signs on newly refurbished picnic benches outside."
"Minor issue of the odd table thinking smoking right by a kids play area and where people were eating was acceptable, can't hold that against the pub though, just disappointment in the selfishness of humanity sometimes."
Accommodation & Amenities
Pros:
"The whole stay was very reasonably priced, would definitely go back."
"Thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd stay at this little gem in the Peak District."
"Absolutely loving it here, comfortable clean room."
"The room we were allocated was perfect. Bed was extremely comfortable, and really enjoyed the tea & coffee provided."
"The room was modern and spotless, it was bliss waking up in a comfy four poster with sunlight streaming through the windows with a stunning view."
"Our room was a spacious family room which was cosy with perfect service and amenities."
"Rooms were of a good standard, overlooking the fields of sheep!"
Cons:
"The rooms may lack a bit of modern refinement, but the convenient, quiet and dark location, comfortable bed and powerful shower in the en-suite adequately make up for any initial disappointment."
"Whilst the room was absolutely fine the bathroom extractor fan wasn't working so it got a bit steamed up, there was no heated towel rail so the towels stayed damp, and there was no mirror over the sink so shaving was a little hazardous and getting a TV signal was a challenge."
"The bed was far too soft for myself and I was unable to sleep and arose full of aches."
"The shower was hot, too hot, and didn't respond to any attempt to cool it down."
"Rooms ok- could have done with a reading light, less worn towels, and a new carpet on the stairs."
"The exterior is shabby and the interior decor isn't much better."
"It was also so cold we left our coats on throughout our visit."
