Cons:

Café and Refreshments

Pros:

  • "There’s a café onsite service a variety of hot and cold food and drinks too and a gift shop to browse before leaving!"

  • "There is a decent shop and cafe on site too, with plenty of parking."

Cons:

  • "The queue for the cafe near the entrance stretched across to the hangar which was probably the only problem as they were in the way of some vehicles trying to move."
  • "Visited for a booked tour of the Lancaster bomber. The tour was amazing, informative and not rushed. The tour guides are brilliant. It's a fantastic tour and highly recommended for any plane enthusiast. The museum is lovely with different and unusually displays. Well worth the trip if you've even the smallest interest in ww 2 aircraft. Every visitor helps the restoration work so helps the heratage side too."
  • "Everyone was enthusiastic and really helpful. The Hampden reconstruction was closed but a man called Philip opened it for me. I was very eager to see this as one crashed into my church during the war, killing the pilot. (St. Matthias Church Lincoln.) I also found literature that told my more about the pilot (P/O D D Snooke) which was great. The lunch was good too. They were testing the engines on the Lancaster and the Mosquito which was amazing. Overall a fantastic experience. Thanks again @"
  • "Easy to find, well signposted. Parking ample and free. Admission is £8 adult. Welcoming and helpful staff. We arrived just in time to witness the avro Lancaster fire up and do a taxi run. Apparently you can book beforehand to take a ride on this magnificent beast. The Lancaster itself is worth the admission price as it's stunning and sounds amazing. Plenty more buildings and vehicles to look around. The cafe and shop was clean, well priced and staff were happy to serve. Toilet facilities are easily accessible and clean. Fell on this place by accident and would definitely go again. Would recommend."
  • "Another wonderful time had visiting East Kirkby Aviation Heritage Centre's 2023 Airshow. Despite the rain and cold and no air displays able to take place, my friend and I still found so much to do and see, that we spent 5 hours there and totally enjoyed ourselves. Hoping to be back next year. The staff are so friendly and they have plenty of things to see and do as well as plenty of toilets, which - considering the amount of people at the events I've been to - is lovely. 2024 Airshow is in my diary."

Events and Airshows

Pros:

  • "Great experience BUT because of the weather the air shows was cancelled. We still had a great time going around the stalls inside the air craft hangers and loads of stalls outside."
  • "We were there for the air show on a rainy Saturday, we had a look around the museum which is in a hanger and you could also se a section of fuselage being restored for the Lancaster they have there, the Lancaster and an M2 Mosquito were fired up and did a few taxiing run which the sound of the engines were amazing."
  • "Great day out here and very good value for money. Very informative. If you like history or have an interest in WW2 definitely recommended. Staff pleasant, polite and helpful. Restaurant very good and reasonably priced."
  • "Went for one of the bike nights, it was fantastic, loads of food and drink vendors. The amount of bikes that turned up was unreal. They even had the Lancaster started up and taxing up and down the runway."
  • "Brilliant day out, seeing ww2 Lancaster and Mosqito aeroplanes taxi-ing and Battle of Britain flying display from Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane. Also live tank firing, plus a lot more to see. Quite an emotional day, when you think what all those brave men did for our freedom."
  • "A great day at the photography experience with the Lancaster and Mosquito. Well organised and fun. Just to get close to these aircraft was enough for me, but to watch them starting and running was something I will always remember."
  • "Absolutely amazing place only intended to stay for a cpl of hours but ended up being there 7 wow so much to see the engines on the Lancaster were just epic ..definatly found my new Interest Cafe fairly priced hot honest food Dog friendly grounds and all staff so helpful Gift shop a.must for a.little memorabilia We will be back."
  • "Great airshow featuring a variety of aircraft and displays. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight did a fantastic display with a Lancaster/Spitfire/Hurricane which was a highlight for me. Wing walkers were also excellent and provided exciting displays of acrobatics while airborne."

Cons:

  • "Our visit was fir the East Kirkby Air show but sadly it rained for most of the day & none of the aircraft destined to fly could leave their host base."
  • "Went for the air show today, but unfortunately the weather had other ideas So all flying cancelled due to 300 ft cloud base Still got to see Lancaster and mosquito taxing and a good look around the museum."
  • "Attended the Lincolnshire bike night's event, way more bikes than expected (2166) but staff coped well getting everyone parked, food outlets were busy and will need to be added to if the event is to grow but that's the only quibble, lancaster taxi run was great and lots of bikes to look at."
  • "This was the best day in my life. Well, maybe not... But honestly it's not that far off! We went on special event day, they had the Lancaster and Mosquito taxiing, a B17 air show, a Lancaster BBMF fly past, live firing from tanks, and lots of other military vehicles, weapons and 1940s singer etc. And to top it all 10 Typhoons flew past! Highly highly recommend the special event days. Very well organised and so much to see and do. Great food stalls as well. I will definitely be coming back for a ride on the Lancaster."
  • "Another fabulous day at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, this time on the Mosquito Experience and what tremendous value for money it really is. The whole team made us welcome from the staff, the pilot and Tony Agar and his tail's of 50 year's building it in his garage... 5star!"
  • "What a great place to visit when there is a air show on, well organised, great food options, plenty to see about aviation and the war and the air show was fantastic, got really busy fast, they restrict the number of tickets at the air shows, so it's worth booking as soon as you can, this one was only 5000 visitors. Plenty of stalls to browse and you can get very close to the airfield where the planes take off and land. Everyone was very friendly and willing to chat, I will be visiting again."
  • "We had 2 fantastic days! On the first day my husband Nigel had the taxi run experience in the Mosquito HJ711 and it was absolutely FANTASTIC, put it on your bucket list you won't regret it. What a man Tony is, he loves that plane! Thank you to Ed (Nigel's pilot) and ALL the staff we met who made our day so very special. The second day we went back to watch the Lancaster NX611 doing taxi runs. The staff are very friendly, great sense of humour too! The site is very well kept along with a great restaurant. The airfield/museum is laid out brilliantly and needs a good day to see all the exhibits hence the 2 days. Great atmosphere and so many interesting things to look at. Look forward to our next visit. Thank you all."
  • "We went there as part of the Dambusters Ride 2023 weekend, displaying our Wacky Dambusters car. The owners and the whole team were so welcoming, and the centre is so well run, kept immaculate, and the volunteers totally fanatical about what they do. Keep up the great work and fingers crossed you can get the old girl back in the air"
