Atmosphere and Decor

Pros:

  • "The music was beach house/deep house and fitted the atmosphere perfectly."
  • "Thank you, Paula, for providing exceptional customer service. The ambiance is truly captivating."
  • "The staff were really nice and attentive. The food was also spot on, and there wasn't much of a wait time either in between courses."
  • "The interior is beautiful, really nice setting."
  • "The restaurant itself is a little on the dark side but has a stylish décor."
  • "The decor and atmosphere were nice, the cocktails were tasty, the burgers were great."
  • "The restaurant is beautiful, elegant and chic."
  • "The restaurant is very trendy with dishes having Michelin star vibes."

Cons:

  • "Service was a bit random as two people asked for drinks orders, when we had already ordered with the first person."
  • "It was a dark and mystical vibe, I liked it. But the food was average."
  • "The restaurant itself is a little on the dark side."
  • "The atmosphere was awful though. It's very dark in there first and foremost, which isn't the end of the world."
  • "The restaurant stops serving dinner at 10pm in the evening."

Service

Pros:

  • "A friendly greeting upon entering and being shown to our table quickly and without fuss."
  • "From the start to the end your team couldn’t do enough for us."
  • "Our waiter was very personable and knowledgeable and made an amazing impression on us both."
  • "Very friendly and knowledgeable waiter who ensured we were always topped up."
  • "All the staff at Kobe were just so enthusiastic and shared a sense of ownership around creating an incredible dining experience."

Cons:

  • "Drink was missing when we did get it and then we were kind of forgotten about after our main courses."
  • "One of the best burgers we also have had. Great atmosphere and service. Will be back Update: Upgraded to a 5* after further family feedback and the fact the manager took time to respond to the review."
  • "There was a problem with my steak - which was rectified, but too slowly."
  • "The food was absolutely beautiful, but the service was beyond terrible."
  • "No complaints about the food, just the time before it arrives. Almost 2 hours from sitting down before the main arrives."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Both steaks were cooked to perfection and were tender and packed full of flavour."
  • "The steaks, sauces and sides were amazing, I had the 500g ribeye and I have to say it’s one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten."
  • "The food was amazing, with stunning presentation."
  • "The food was beautiful! We tried the monkfish skewers to start (very tiny, 2 mouthfuls) which was lovely."
  • "The food was incredible, everything about it including the small touches."
  • "I had sushi as starters and the wagyu burger.I’m not used to eat too much meat so it was a bit heavy for me but the taste was very good."
  • "The wagyu burger and polenta chips on the other hand were a joke. The burger was ridiculously dry."
  • "Food excellent best place to eat in mk. We have eaten in high end restaurants and this place beats them all by far."

Cons:

  • "The food was amazing, with stunning presentation; we both ordered our steaks rare, and they were both overcooked."
  • "Firstly, they had no idea how to cut the rolls, the slices were so huge, no normal person could eat these in a single bite."
  • "Unfortunately, there were some problems. The Smoked duck starter arrived covered by a glass, smoked filled bell. Plenty of theatre but alas, no smoke flavour whatsoever."
  • "The food was amazing, with stunning presentation; however, the quality of the steak was so good we ate it."
  • "The steak, was, not only oily and greasy (for those of you wondering, Japanese wagyu steak should have a sweet flavour rather than oily/greasy taste), they also over sprinkled it with salt."
  • "The veg is oily and yet again… salty!"
  • "It was a birthday celebration so we really wanted to make it special but left disappointed."
  • "The steak quality was good, we had the Japanese Sirloin Wagyu. However, whilst tender, it lacked flavour as it was under seasoned."

Price and Value

Pros:

  • "Bill was £127 which I didn’t think was bad for what we had but you could rack up a pretty hefty bill if you wanted to!"
  • "It is a little bit pricey but worth it for the quality, presentation, service and whole feel of the place!"
  • "The food itself was a revelation. Each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor."
  • "Definitely would go again. The Dessert menu was pretty small and I would love if they had a single version of a cheesecake but you can tell they value quality over quantity."

Cons:

  • "The bread was BASIC, pretty much like the pre-cooked bread rolls you get from a supermarket, and the flavoured butter had zero salt!"
  • "Overall, the food is definitely not worth the price they charge and there’s a lot of room for improvement."
  • "Apart from that both times I’ve been the fillet steak with chips and peppercorn sauce has been really good. Almost as good as my usual London spot and the decor is really nice."
  • "The only saving grace of the entire dish was the salad which came as a side."
  • "The steak quality was good, we had the Japanese Sirloin Wagyu. However, whilst tender, it lacked flavour as it was under seasoned."
