Animal Care and Enclosures

Pros:

  • "All the animals are very well looked after and staff are very knowledgeable."
  • "The enclosures for the animals are up to standard and very well done."
  • "The animals appear well cared for and the enclosures clean."
  • "A lovely selection of animals to see, who all look happy and well cared for."
  • "Animals all seem happy and loved and they're all the cute ones you'd hope to see."
  • "All the animals were well looked after and happy, the enclosures were big and well maintained."
  • "The animals are all healthy and well cared for and their enclosures are spacious and full of enrichment."

Cons:

  • "Many of the terrariums, tanks and cages seemed empty."
  • "Unfortunately this felt more like playgrounds with animals set around than a zoo, more space for playgrounds than for the animals."
  • "The enclosures for the larger animals seemed to lack enrichment activities and I believe I saw some pacing behaviour."
  • "Enclosures were absolutely tiny, very heartbreaking to see the animals in such small places apart from the peacocks."
  • "Some of the animal enclosure conditions were truly depressing."
  • "The caiman had a filthy, shallow water area about the size of a hot tub."
  • "A lot of the enclosures are clearly too small."

Staff and Educational Talks

Pros:

  • "Your animals and the Keepers talks were great."
  • "The staff and volunteers are super friendly and know a lot about the animals they care for."
  • "Jess who did the animal talks was great with the kids and very knowledgeable."
  • "Staff were super knowledgeable and really friendly."
  • "All their talks focus on conservation and in many instances rescue from the pet trade."
  • "Keepers are incredibly knowledgeable, you can tell they properly care for their animals and really know their stuff."
  • "The staff were really passionate and knowledgeable and took the time to explain things beautifully to the kids."

Cons:

  • "There are animal interactions available (a lizard and a snake), however these offered little to no education for children and seemed to be a token gesture."
  • "The staff were also very doom & gloom, didn’t look the happiest, approachable or very energetic at all."
  • "Some of the staff pushed passed us quite hurriedly for no reason so that put a humph on the situation."
  • "Due to restrictions the talks about the animals are not going ahead either at the moment."
  • "I was disappointed to find that the puppet show was no longer running and the only encounters were at 12, which is the kids lunch time."
  • "This is definitely a place where the animals are being used as a tourist attraction with little reference to education or conservation."
  • "The aquarium has steep steps so would be a struggle for people with mobility problems even if they can walk."

Facilities and Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Apart from the Aquarium which has steps down it is wheelchair accessible."
  • "The indoor wooden play near the cafe was really good, even adults enjoying it."
  • "The facilities were spotless and the animals ect were well looked after."
  • "The kids have plenty of outdoor play areas and better still a nice indoor play area with a small cafe."
  • "They also discount entry for disabled people."
  • "The play areas are brilliant, there's two almost life sized pirate ships, an outdoor castle with slide and an indoor fort."
  • "It has indoor & outdoor areas and playzones so the young ones can play, whatever the weather."

Cons:

  • "The hygiene of the place; cafeteria and toilets were also appalling!"
  • "Play areas were the better bit of the place but wasn't fantastic, basically just an area to run around."
  • "Also the wooden fort in the café area was very boring. It could do with some ropes hanging down that the children can walk through."
  • "The bathrooms we a bit dirty but with the rain it's to be expected."
  • "The odd enclosure had a few more nettles and weeds than was necessary and these could have been reduced down slightly."
  • "The building and the outside space is not at all buggy/disabled friendly."
  • "The general place looks very tired, needs a lick of paint in most places and tidied up a little."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The entrance prices were very good especially a family ticket, well worth the money."
  • "For us, £42 (that’s just £5 an hour) was a bargain for 2 hours of great entertainment for 4 people."
  • "Overall I think the wildlife park is good value for money (£12.50 per adult) and I would recommend anyone that’s in the area too visit."
  • "Extremely reasonable price! For £14.00 per adult this one is definitely not to miss!"
  • "We purchased the season pass which offers brilliant value."
  • "Food is good value, the season ticket is an absolute bargain we come at least once a fortnight."
  • "Its really worth a visit and entrance price is not expensive."

Cons:

  • "Food and drink is quite expensive. So take a picnic and a blanket to sit on."
  • "It is incredibly expensive for food that is very cheap and processed."
  • "The food was super expensive for what you get."
  • "All right for young children, a little pricey but you have to take in account food and care for animals."
  • "A little pricey for entry and food, but a great day out with the kids."
  • "The cafeteria was rather over priced also, they do not cater for everybody, if you are vegan or have a milk or soya allergy I suggest taking a pack lunch."
  • "Ok, but not a lot there in the grand scheme of things. - is it really worth the money.... Probably not if there were more competition from other attractions in the area."
