Instructors and Guides

Pros:

  • "Our instructor was Rowan and he was helpful and also a lot of fun."
  • "Our guide Jemima was amazing, and as a person who grew up locally her knowledge was fantastic."
  • "Joe took us out Coasteering which was a brilliant morning spent in the crashing waves, slimy rocks and pumping white water."
  • "The instructor (Jamie) was really brilliant and very knowledgeable and we felt in extremely safe hands."
  • "Sam was not only fantastic by explaining to us how to manoeuvre the kayak, but also by introducing us to the wildlife around us."
  • "We felt in very safe hands with our guide, Jamie, whose encouragement and expertise made exploring the bay, caves and cliffs totally exhilarating."
  • "Joe was a great leader very friendly and nice to everyone, he made the session great for us all!!"

Cons:

  • "Unfortunately, however, the office staff are very disorganised."
  • "Just bummed out that we didn't get any photos to remember our day!"
  • "Sadly, when I asked one of our guides, Eloise about this during the actual programme, she said that she was not made aware of any such thing at all, that neither one of them brought a camera."
  • "We had been there for around 40 minutes when he dented the roof whilst tightening the straps."
  • "The team member who attended to sort out the situation was rude and patronising, and instead of apologising he suggested that I had signed the waiver and assisted his colleague with the kayaks - so it was my problem."
  • "There was a scheduling snafu at the beginning of our session."
  • "Just one small thing both chaps wondered if the dislocation happened because the wet suits you loaned were too small and therefore a bit restrictive for movement."

Equipment and Facilities

Pros:

  • "Equipment from my limited knowledge seemed very good, with great condition wetsuits and surf boards that looked brand new."
  • "The changing rooms were clean and spacious, and the set up to get kit well organised."
  • "Good quality wetsuits and safety kit."
  • "The equipment is well maintained."
  • "Equipment provided is good and wetsuits are nice and thick so you don’t get too cold while in the water."
  • "The equipment was provided (wetsuit, floatation devices, helmet) which were maintained very well and fit for purpose."
  • "Kit was great and toasty warm."

Cons:

  • "I hired a 2-man kayak at St David’s over the phone. The company cancelled the double kayak last minute."
  • "We felt even worse when we were emailed the download link to the other groups' amazing photos taken on the same day/week."
  • "Be prepared for a walk to the coast from the base which is about 15mins each way then a short descent down to the water and a climb back up."
  • "Check the tides though as access wasn’t available through the slipway and we had to walk round which was an uphill and downhill climb which may be unsuitable for some."
  • "Photos would have been great, however maybe a bit too challenging leaping into the sea and clambering up rocks with a camera!"

Overall Experience

Pros:

  • "We all had an amazing time. The guides always ensure that everyone enjoys the experience regardless of ability and confidence."
  • "We had a fantastic time with TYF and kept coming back for more, booking more coaststeering and kayaking after enjoying our initial coaststeering session much."
  • "We can’t wait to go on our next adventure with them."
  • "I only have good things to say about the experience. 5 stars, will recommend."
  • "Family coasteering adventure was everything we expected and more!"
  • "We had a fabulous time Coasteering with TYF. Loads of fun, laughs and a bit of adrenaline rush in places."
  • "We couldn't recommend TYF highly enough and will definitely revisit on any return to the area."

Cons:

  • "The only negative- it all ended too soon !!"
  • "Sad to be writing this review as most of the staff we spoke to had been really polite and helpful."
