Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "Brandon, a member of staff who looked after us, was really helpful and friendly."
  • "The staff were amazing they explained everything and really gave both daughter and I the confidence to enjoy the activity."
  • "The staff were amazing especially Jeff and Ellie, who helped to support my 5 year old boy who was determined but actually became overwhelmed."
  • "The staff are always on hand to applaud you and give support wherever you need it."
  • "The staff were also friendly and helpful."
  • "Staff were amazing with kids and really good at what they do."
  • "The staff are amazing and really make you feel safe and at ease."

Cons:

  • "When my son was still on the zip line staff member sent down another boy down and they bumped each other."
  • "Very unhelpful on the phone!! Said that he doesnt know what else there is to do there for 2 x 14yr olds apart from a 1hr treetop adventure!"
  • "Before all this palava, it would have been 5 stars as staff were friendly before they wouldn't leave us alone."
  • "I was also somewhat concerned that during the practice on site 1, the instructor had his back to the group and wasn't watching people practice."
  • "This staff member after accident did not explain how did it happen and did not apologize us but somewhere disappeared."
  • "Another brilliant course though very unimpressed with staff. Did not engage with us at all after course finished."
  • "Unfortunately, this was not the case at Haldon."

Location and Setting

Pros:

  • "Being up in the misty trees gave the forest such a calm and tranquil atmosphere."
  • "Lovely forest to be situated in with plenty of walks for afterwards."
  • "This is in a gorgeous setting with so much beauty for miles."
  • "Good location with lots of parking."
  • "Park in Haldon Forest Car Park and follow the Go Ape signs."
  • "Great location. Easy to get to from the m5 and also lots to offer beside go ape."
  • "Visited for the first time today, great location."

Cons:

  • "Park could do with more toilets and facilities by the tree top area."
  • "No toilets that I saw close to go ape."
  • "Go ape is not particularly well signposted when you get to the car park."
  • "Signposting is essentially non-exsistant, but that is due to the forestry commission not their own shortcomings."
  • "You have to pay for parking at the forestry car park and toilets are at the car park not Go Ape."
  • "Leave plenty of time to park and find it. Signage is terrible."
  • "Parking is with Haldon Forest and isn't cheap."

Experience and Activities

Pros:

  • "A family fun day out with three teens: not a huff or eye-roll all afternoon #winning 👌"
  • "This is a lovely and super fun course! We loved the bridges through the treetops and the thrill of some of the higher platforms."
  • "The zipline in zone 3 is particularly great, and the tarzan swing in zone 5 and the wobbly tree in zone 4 are particularly terrifying!"
  • "Highly recommended by us all."
  • "Well worth the visit!"
  • "We had an amazing 3 hours here, swinging from the trees, challenging high ropes and exhilarating zip lines."
  • "The whole place was well maintained and well run."

Cons:

  • "That's when we started getting told she couldn't go on, she needed an adult with her."
  • "The landing can be very painful because you land on mulch and there is a big chance that you land on your back."
  • "Not for people who are petrified of heights or have heart problems or are a little unfit as some challenges are quite physical."
  • "I do advise wearing clothes with padding as I have really injured my shoulder through doing it back in June to the point I’ve had to be signed off work and also do physiotherapy."
  • "Always fun. There were a lot of delays today - really busy and a lot of kids getting stuck on the zip line."
  • "This one did frighten us a little though as the trees were swaying in the wind, and it seemed ever so slightly higher than others we had done before, plus the zip wires seemed longer."
  • "The only down side was it is a little expensive but once you've done it you'll want to do it again."

Value and Cost

Pros:

  • "A little expensive but we were there nearly 3 hours."
  • "Would recommend, I felt safe even though it was so high. The equipment felt secure and in great condition."
  • "Good value and moderately challenging (nothing extreme)."
  • "We highly recommend and would go again."
  • "I would recommend the party bag as a great value extra that includes a medal and other bits."
  • "Really good fun, pricey but worth the money."
  • "Good safety measures in place for high level activity as well as social distancing and sanitising stations."

Cons:

  • "The total cost was £136."
  • "It's not the cheapest of days out, but it beats 'another theme park'."
  • "Groups were far too big which meant on a very cold day the course took 3hrs."
  • "Only 4* because the last of the courses was quite short and a little underwhelming considering it's the finale."
  • "Cannot recommend enough, just definitely bring scruffy clothes."
  • "Parking is with Haldon Forest and isn't cheap."
  • "I wouldn't return here but if I was to ever return I'd just put the teens through as 16+ as it's not as if they I.D them and it's so much bloody effort to get around the ropes with knowing who's on the waiver etc."
