Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Amazing food - menu is so varied and different to the usual."
  • "this pub serves the BEST Sunday roast ever."
  • "Had a delicious veggie pasta with goats cheese here and my partner enjoyed the Vegan option of glazed butternut squash."
  • "Rustling daily deliveries of fresh seafood and meat into simple yet moreish British dishes."
  • "In this place you really get what you pay for - although hardly inexpensive, you cannot fault the food which was delicious and well presented."
  • "We both had the chicken liver pate to start with which was lovely with fresh warm bread and a lovely tomato & clove compote."
  • "The salsa it came with was the highlight of the meal - sharp and punchy with great texture."

Cons:

  • "After they change management the food went really down, the services even worst."
  • "The veggies meant two leaves of kale and some carrot mash. Roasties = 2 potatoes. And the gravy was burnt."
  • "Service was really poor, we were left to our own devices pretty much all the time and nearly had to shout to get the attention of the really not-bothered waitress."
  • "Over cooked fish, undercooked chips. Medium rare steak was over cooked then sent back and the chef made a joke by overcooking one side and undercooking the other."
  • "Everything on our plates was tepid except the kale which was cold."
  • "It was shockingly bad .. old and disgusting. Cold deep fried Calamari and old potted crab."
  • "The table was also sticky and filthy."

Service

Pros:

  • "The service was attentive and swift, atmosphere at 20:00 was vibrant and not too loud so good for supper."
  • "Absolutely lovely staff and host."
  • "Stopped in here for a drink or two before a show last weekend and was very impressed - helpful staff, good prices per pint and it was busy without ever feeling overcrowded."
  • "What a good visit, nice helpful barman went the extra mile for me fetching an ale from the cellar so that I could try."
  • "Good, pleasant service, we were checked on about 3-4 times."
  • "Great tasting Sunday roast (beef, chicken and pork all very good) - really appreciated the chef offering a taste of the roast pork."
  • "Went today for a Sunday roast for a birthday celebration, the service was impeccable - speedy & attentive and made us feel like the only table in the room."

Cons:

  • "The staff just couldn't care less and were discourteous and totally self absorbed."
  • "Awful service, unattantive waiters and barman. Totally ignoring your existence at 14.00 when there is basically 5 customers inside."
  • "Service in the restaurant is slow and offhand despite being only 20% full."
  • "The group spent in excess of £500 on the meal and we were left sitting in dirty plates for 20 minutes after everyone had finished and the children waited another 20minutes for basic ice cream to arrive."
  • "When I arrived the manager told us there was no table for us as we hadn’t confirmed and when I said I had even called up said he had been there all day and basically accused me of lying."
  • "Classic Victorian pub with excellent Sunday roast and beautiful interiors. I can’t give 5 stars for several reasons though: We waited at the table for around 15 minutes and only were attended when trying to order at the bar."
  • "Each time it felt a bit depressing, with staff being cold and unwelcoming."

Atmosphere & Ambience

Pros:

  • "Lovely cosy pub with some interesting gins and comfy armchairs."
  • "Nice spacious pub with a cosy atmosphere."
  • "As a local I've been here a few times, twice now for my birthday and we always have so much fun."
  • "If you get lucky with the right DJ it can be awesome fun, I ended up here after my wedding and it was excellent."
  • "The atmosphere is amazing during the festive season (beautifully lit place with lovely music playing in the background)."
  • "It's a great place for whiling away a few too many hours and pints at the weekend."
  • "Really good music. A great winter pub - lots of cosy sofas and chairs and a lovely laid-back vibe."

Cons:

  • "Suddenly the music was turned up so far that we could hardly hear each other speak."
  • "Atmosphere is also extremely rough in the evenings with people that are a bit scary...."
  • "The vibe has changed, crowd has changed and the security staff are egotistical and non friendly."
  • "Unfortunately if you do like talking the music will be too loud to hold a conversation without losing your voice."
  • "Large and slightly less intimate than other pubs, but the music is great."
  • "Food has unfortunately gone downhill since they reopened under the 3 Crowns name a few years back."
  • "Amazing atmosphere within this establishment with a nice retro look nicely decorated with beautiful wooden tables."

Safety & Security

Pros:

  • "The distancing is being handled well, and the food is delicious."
  • "This is the first and only pub that I have been to in London which asks for COVID-19 Passes."

Cons:

  • "I have been victim to innapropriate comments from security staff with a sexual undertone which made me and my partner uncomfortable."
  • "Horrendous safety policy. I was touched inappropriately by a male bouncer."
  • "So get ready to be kicked out by useless racist security personnel who do not even listen what you’re saying!!"
  • "Beware of racist bartenders and bouncers!!!"
  • "Bouncers were extremely rude and openly racist to me and my friends by kicking us out of the place before we even finish our over-priced drinks!"
  • "Security harrassing women in the toilets and carrying out body searches without even asking permission first, which is part of procedure."
  • "The security have no respect for women and their bodies and when told their behaviour is inappropriate they act as a group to put you in danger."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The happy hour drink special was good value and the drinks were nice."
  • "Had the burger the other day on a buy one get one for 1£. Burger was great and the chip fantastic."
  • "Took my parents and family for a birthday lunch and we all rated the experience highly, plus the price was competitive too."

Cons:

  • "Sadly pretty overpriced for what it is."
  • "The group spent in excess of £500 on the meal and we were left sitting in dirty plates for 20 minutes after everyone had finished and the children waited another 20minutes for basic ice cream to arrive."
  • "This business will continue to lose customers as long as it discriminates against potential customers based on their private health decisions."
  • "Very bad management again and organisation."
  • "I am really shocked by the sheer horror of the afternoon and the inedible food and the stress it caused."
  • "The waitress was kind enough to take some things off the bill but still we are many pounds poorer and no one enjoyed the afternoon."
  • "Nice spacious pub with a cosy atmosphere. Had nice interactions with the staff. The veggie roast dinner was really nice - especially the nut roast - but felt a bit overpriced for the portion size and quality."
