Entertainment & Events

Pros:

  • "Entertainment wise there is a basement that sometimes has events on such as stand up, a room upstairs you can book for karaoke, and of course a pub quiz."
  • "We had multiple djs playing across the day and everyone that attended enjoyed themselves, and said that they’d return."
  • "Everyone enjoyed the karaoke to the fullest."
  • "Hosting live events, it's a great place for a vibrant and enjoyable night out."
  • "Great selection of songs and a little stage adds an extra bit of oomph!"
  • "Best security ever! Such a good night here...good jukebox, karaoke upstairs and a dj in the basement."
  • "Downstairs on some nights are G&B Comedy which is the reason I was there."

Cons:

  • "But I was greatly put off by the fact that 4 bouncers came to tell us to leave the karaoke room AND the bar while people were still there and we were all as sober as any of the ones there!"
  • "The DJ decks are new pioneer 900s though I brought my own mixer as the one provided is pretty old."
  • "DJ started a bit too early, cleared the back section almost instantly at half 8."
  • "Only real criticism was that when the music stopped in the pub upstairs, a few randoms wondered down into my party."
  • "The biggest let down though is the sound equipment. The sound levels were quite low for such a big room and the left hand speaker crackled like it was blown."
  • "was having a wonderful time doing karaoke with some friends until the wet wipe “security” decided to man handle my friends and proceed to drag her down the stairs and out the building."
  • "The karaoke in the evenings doesn’t appeal, but each to their own!"

Food & Drink

Pros:

  • "A relaxed and chilled out pub, selling a really good range of beer and lager - from mainstream and small breweries."
  • "Food platters were pricy but they did the job and came out on time."
  • "Hands down some of the most lovely chips I've had in a long time."
  • "Food is amazing, great selection of beer."
  • "They had a very good selection of real ales/bitters, regular guest ales. The chocolate porter was incredibly nice."
  • "Tacos and burgers platters were delicious."
  • "The highlight is DEFINITELY the food. Good veggie options of yummy dirty burgers."

Cons:

  • "Ordered at 8:13, they said it’s a 20 min wait and I said it’s okay… it’s 8:56 and even the person before me still doesn’t have her food…"
  • "The Taco shells were poor quality, fell apart immediately and tasted like cardboard."
  • "The big let down is that the food is tiny portions and super expensive."
  • "The food on the other hand is dreadful. Stale bread on the hotdogs, burgers feel boiled, over-seasoned and greasy."
  • "The chips were cold for all 3 plates."
  • "Very disappointing - the food was barely warm, oily and a lot of people (including us) had to complain about the quality!"
  • "Food with breddos tacos is a rip off tho - two tiny tacos at £9 was taking the piss a bit."

Staff & Service

Pros:

  • "Bar staff were kind and efficient and everything went off without a hitch."
  • "They're a lovely group of people who make an effort to giving you the best time and leave you to relax and chat."
  • "Staff were very helpful and kept on top of taking empty glasses away when I had finished a drink."
  • "This pub is the office favourite because it has everything you need, good food, good beer and friendly staff."
  • "The guy behind the bar was super friendly too."
  • "Really helpful bartender who had lots of opinions and advice on the food and drink side (South African fellow)"
  • "Staff and management always provide exceptional service."

Cons:

  • "Grim! Smells really sweaty when you walk in & the staff are miserable."
  • "If I could give zero starts I would. The security staff are the rudest I’ve ever seen and treated everyone terribly."
  • "The older man at the bar, was impolite when I wanted some Fanta."
  • "Bar staff up-stairs that I saw did have rather long faces on for some of the evening which was a shame."
  • "Staff were really unfriendly and acted like they couldn’t wait to leave."
  • "And the staff unfortunately looked like they would rather be somewhere else and were generally sullen."
  • "Actually disgusting how the door staff were acting."

Ambiance & Location

Pros:

  • "A busy and bustling pub was in reality a welcome sanctuary for a great Sunday lunch on a cold and otherwise miserable London day."
  • "Perfect size, perfect atmosphere, great location."
  • "Lovely vibes and atmosphere."
  • "Lots of character and a lively atmosphere."
  • "A great pub, close enough to King’s Cross Station that it’s convenient but just far enough that it’s not inundated."
  • "Always feels like a good crowd, no aggro, etc."
  • "Nice to have a bit of a traditional vibe in the now ultra modern Kings Cross area."

Cons:

  • "No tables inside so had to sit outside amongst the dirty smokers who have absolutely no regard for your health and wellbeing."
  • "A dark, not very welcoming interior."
  • "Very much a dive bar type pub."
  • "Needs a revamp. I've been in worse places, but you are charging top London prices."
  • "Not too far from the station but close enough that it does not get too crowded."
  • "Although this place wasn't particularly crowded when I visited there wasn't any available seats inside."
  • "The pub has that 'minimalist forgotten' look, whether through effort or because it's actually forgotten is anyone's guess."
