General Zoo Experience
Pros:
"Plenty of seating and rest stop areas and play areas for children."
"Staff were dotted about and were very friendly π"
"During the summer holidays kids can visit free with a paying adult."
"All the animals well looked after, we have a 19 month old and the baby changing facilities are clean and tidy!"
"The animals had good sized enclosures and the whole zoo was an attractive place to spend several hours."
"All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful."
"The zoo is disabled friendly; most places you can get to by steps or slope so mobility scooters/wheelchairs are fine to take."
Cons:
"Worst Zoo Iβve ever been to, I donβt think you can really class it as a zoo, more like a bird/ animal sanctuary."
"Very run down and in need of a good clean."
"Only one thing spoiled it though, and that was the behaviour of a large group of eastern Europeans who kept chasing and cornering the peacock that roamed free."
"Most of the outdoor cages with trees/ foliage had plenty of animal signs outside, but appeared empty."
"Small, uninspiring enclosures, the animals look bored & everything looks in need of being updated."
"Half of the biggest animals were not even on show, spent a few hours walking round not seeing any of the big animals in their cages."
"The enclosures are in serious need of updating as many of them are overflowing with foliage."
Pricing and Value
Pros:
"The parking was also quite nice because although you had to pay for parking it was pretty cheap."
"Price wise the zoo doesn't attempt the quick cash grab and has very reasonable prices."
"Not hugely expensive for a family day out plus free returns for 7 days not a bad deal!"
"Great value day out, pleasantly surprised with how much is packed into such a small zoo."
"Food very reasonable priced."
"Adult ticket was slightly cheaper online, so at least there was that lol"
"Even though its small and not like Paignton or Chester zoo, the animals on offer will keep your cheeky monkey's amused and busy for hours on end. It is also very reasonable not like the bigger Zoo's and well worth the money."
Cons:
"The zoo itself, I thought, was a bit too expensive for the amount of exhibits to view."
"Poor zoo when compared to others. Lack of a headline animal is quite obvious, making it have more of a glorified pet shop vibe."
"We were hoping to return but the return tickets have now been removed so you pay just over Β£30 for one adult & one child which probably couldn't feed a lion for 5 minutes so its relative."
"Charged the price of a much larger zoo. The zoo is so small it makes the admission price scandalous."
"Parking is quite expensive which we werenβt aware of!"
"The only downside of the place was lack of space for the lions because it seemed they were bored and didn't have much to do."
"Quite expensive if you have a large family."
Animal Variety and Enclosures
Pros:
"such a wide range of exotic animals."
"Came during holiday to Newquay, this had a surprisingly wide range of animals including Lions, Wildebeests, Capuchin monkeys, Red Pandas etc."
"Stunning zoo, staff are really nice to talk to and the animals seem to be very happy here."
"The variety of animals was brilliant and there was so much to do for little kids and talks for people interested."
"The animals all looked so well treated."
"They don't boast any of the big 'A list' animals but do have a great variety including Red Pandas (my favourite π), Otters, monkeys, penguins, many different birds and Lynx (plus many more π)."
"The animals all looked to be in great health and the enclosures were well maintained and seemed fit for purpose."
Cons:
"The Lion enclosure was too small to house 2 female and 1 main cat."
"The penguins home looked outdated and could do with a good clean."
"Unfortunately, some of the animals werenβt available to see."
"Felt very sorry for the majority of animals. Most enclosures are small and I'd imagine, boring for the animals."
"We didnt see any monkeys on our visit."
"Animals display signs of anxiety, depression and psychological distress in zoo."
"The only bit of negativity is that the Lion enclosure doesn't seem big enough to house these beautiful creatures."
