Location & Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "The venue was decorated beautifully (as well as the incredible location)."
  • "We ate on the terrace which has a fabulous view of the harbour and is well thought out to accommodate diners even in rainy weather."
  • "A very picturesque and atmospheric place to sit nonetheless!"
  • "Absolutely stunning harbour, with so many little beauty spots all around."
  • "Really nicely placed restaurant, right on Porthleven harbour, lit up by fairy lights around the harbour in the evening."
  • "Porthleven harbour looked great at nighttime, lit up with multicolour lights."
  • "The view over the harbour was fantastic, and the decor was suitably rustic."

Cons:

  • "Extremely disappointing. Lacking atmosphere."
  • "The food was awful, the staff looked like they didn't want to be here. Gave off an uncomfortable feel to the place."
  • "Seats quite dirty and cobwebs are hanging from the roof windows."
  • "Quite windy and rainy outside today but the doors remained open, even after a family asked to be moved because it was cold."
  • "Wonderful setting especially in the conservatory area but that is I am afraid where the positives end."
  • "Skylight windows FULL of webs and dead flies - one fell onto a neighbouring table."
  • "It was utterly disappointing. It was the kind of salad I imagine that non vegetable eaters dream of when thinking of punishments for vegetarians and vegans."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The slow roasted belly pork was a substantial serving which melted in the mouth."
  • "The food was excellent, very delicious."

Cons:

  • "Despite a beautiful location and good service the food was disappointing and my dish (pea and broad bean linguine) simply tasted like frozen peas and beans in a bland and tasteless cream sauce."
  • "The squid was like rubber the sauce that came with it had a thick skin layer on top."
  • "Very salty mackerel pate, fish pieces dry from being over fried."
  • "The squid was rubbery and tasteless, the king prawns over cooked and smothered in cream with no flavour of the promised garlic and chilli."
  • "Food average at best and unfortunately fish overcooked."
  • "The seafood linguine tasted a little over salted."
  • "The shellfish main course we shared was also disappointing."
