Pros:

  • "All staff were very welcoming."
  • "The staff are friendly and helpful which adds to the appeal all in all a good place to eat and relax with good company."
  • "Our waitress, Robin, was superb; she virtually preempted our needs, was full of fun and very helpful."
  • "The staff were all very pleasant and professional."
  • "The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, the food and drinks were excellent."
  • "Really appreciate the effort all the staff went to in order to make us feel welcome and safe."
  • "Staff very attentive but not too bothersome."

Cons:

  • "8:40pm asked for food menu as online states food served until 9 pm. 8:45pm ordered food paid by card. 8:48pm server had to inform me that kitchen was closed."
  • "6.00pm on a Tuesday night. Half a restaurant with empty tables. We were refused dining as not booked and had a child with us so couldn't use the bar area. Poor customer service. Will not visit again even though local to the area."
  • "Staff were very welcoming, friendly, helpful but slow in clearing table in between courses.."
  • "Only real criticism was that I got the bill and they didn't come back to get payment."
  • "Unfortunately had a to ask for dessert menus as appeared to have forgotten to bring them."
  • "Service was a bit slow but this could have been a one off as it wasn't like that on a previous visit."
  • "But the guy who seems like the manager was too keen to run the business and empty the tables. He gave us the most unwelcome with sigh."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Their Sticky Toffee is best in town!"
  • "As a vegan I am often left with crappy choices but this was not the case. I had so much choice that it warrants a return trip!"
  • "Really good food and drinks! They have a nice outdoor seating area too so that's really nice when the sun comes out."
  • "Food was amazing! My husband and I both travelled from London to Scotland for a week and this is the only restaurant we've liked."
  • "Best Pub I have ever been to. Absolutely stunning food, great range of beer and drinks."
  • "The food is genuinely pleasant and prepared with a passion."
  • "Absolutely amazing went last week for the carvery wow just wow what a meal food was honestly amazing."

Cons:

  • "Unfortunately my dinner (Balmoral Chicken) was underwhelming, bland, heavy stodge."
  • "We had chips as a snack they were terrible!!"
  • "The puddings were OK, but just knocked a star off. A few murmurings about the cheesecake and the apple pie."
  • "Food was a bit disappointing tonight with under seasoned burger and rather soggy chips... Coffee was fab...not the usual good standard for food...staff lovely as always."
  • "Had the carvery at £12. Meat was nice but green beans hard, carrots and parsnips lukewarm and definitely didn't like the large hard tasteless lump of what was presumably supposed to be Yorkshire pudding."
  • "The only negatives were the roast potatoes were pretty poor....they seamed deep fried rather that roasted, very hard and dry and tasted bland - I did not eat them."
  • "Nothing like the standard of old from the mosset! The warm soup had to be reheated and was under seasoned, the main course of seabas was under seasoned and over cooked and the cajun chicken was overcooked and mostly sauce with what looked like oven chips."

Ambiance and Location

Pros:

  • "Visited the Mosset for a christmas do, the interior was light and very tastefully decorated."
  • "The wood burning stove gave the bar area a lovely cosy atmosphere."
  • "Lovely and cozy inside. Welcoming great atmosphere."
  • "We sat in the bar where there is a lovely wood burner to keep you toasty."
  • "Beautiful location, excellent meal, I had Sunday carvery, by time I had filled my plate didn't look very appealing, but, tasted delicious, would definitely go back and recommend to anyone, staff very nice also, x ❤"
  • "The location by the Mosset Burn is lovely especially during the summer."
  • "A lovely old pub with outside seating next to a river walk."

Cons:

  • "Would of given 5 stars but the beer garden is very small."
  • "It's a shame that there was a rowdy bunch of people, that spoiled the atmosphere."
  • "Fixed “Stall” type seating by bar was a little cramped."
  • "Parking can be an issue, but there is a large public car park not too far away."
  • "It was ok, certainly better than your average pub, and it's in a lovely location nestled next to the river. I'd probably give it another go in the future but to be honest it felt like a bit of a let down due to the execution of the dishes."

Value and Pricing

Pros:

  • "Absolute value for money considering today's prices."
  • "Great staff and very good food at a great price."
  • "The final bonus was that the price charged was lower than I had expected!"

  • "The food and service was first class, all our group were impressed with the quality of the food and how promptly and efficiently it was served."
  • "The Mosset has raised its standards yet again, excellent menu, superb food."

Cons:

  • "Expensive£££.. I thought, you order a meal BUT then you have to pay for the vegetables and chips."
  • "Advertise food as ‘all day’ yet when we travelled through from Dingwall (1hr drive) we were told that food won’t be served again until 4pm. Very disappointing and misleading."
  • "HOWEVER, when we asked if we could have a pudding of the specials menu, we were told no as we hadn't had a main from that menu, this was disappointing as it was my wife's birthday which they were aware off and her that wanted a pudding from the menu."
  • "Another poor experience with the way staff are trained here."

  • "Great night out..the fantastic The Trad Project were playing there as part of the beer festival..everyone enjoyed themselves."
