Seating

Pros:

  • "It's got a really nice atmosphere and comfortable seating."
  • "This is a great venue. The acoustics are fantastic, I don't think there's a bad seat in the house, the seating is comfortable and you don't feel squashed."
  • "Always love it here, great venue for gigs/shows as good acoustics, comfortable seating and friendly staff."
  • "I've always loved this venue. The seating is well laid out with lots of space between the aisles."
  • "For me the most luxurious event location in Glasgow with great seats plenty of leg room, super view of the stage and awesome sound system."
  • "The sound quality in the auditorium was great and the seats had more legroom than other venues."
  • "Seating was comfortable and well laid out."

Cons:

  • "Our seats were in the high gallery however because of imbalance due to a knee replacement I had to crawl down to my seat and back up."
  • "Booked front row balcony seats for a show in the Armadillo but it seems the only way for people in the rows behind to get in and out is to go along the front row, so there was a continuous stream of people."
  • "...the seating was very uncomfortable...seats too hard was swapping from cheek to cheek throughout."
  • "Seating was reasonably comfortable. We were in the stalls and view was ok although better in the gallery where we sat previously due to tiered seating."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "The customer service from every member of the Armadillo staff I encountered was exceptional."
  • "The staff that work for the Armadillo are very friendly as well."
  • "Found the staff both friendly and helpful."
  • "Staff are friendly and always helpful."
  • "Staff were pleasant and helpful."
  • "Staff were very helpful making sure we knew how to get to our seats."
  • "The staff...all of them, were knowledgeable, happy friendly people who had a fun day along with the audience."

Cons:

  • "You're having a laugh with the pick up point being behind the SECC, rude and unhelpful wardens then not allowing the kids to walk through the centre to the car park."
  • "Very disappointed with venue. Queued for ages in the rain as not enough staff on the doors for security checks. Many of the bars were closed at interval time so huge queues at the ones that were open."
  • "Staff should get more training on manners two female staff older security treated me unacceptable and acted like police officer and threatened to escort me out building as I spilled my drink (coke) on floor."
  • "Security were power mad though and spoke to my friend like a piece of dirt, threatening her with being removed for enjoying herself."
  • "Security were not organising the people to make it go quicker."
  • "Security staff were rude not one of them smiled."
  • "Only criticism would be the bar situation as there wasn't enough staff (or perhaps bars) for the size of crowd."

Parking and Accessibility

Pros:

  • "...this is easy to get to and from by taxi and busses which run all day..."
  • "If you can't take public transport or cycle and you have to drive there's a multi story car park on site."
  • "Plenty of free parking in the area if you know where to look, too."
  • "We parked at the science centre and walked over the bridge. Parking there is much cheaper than the 'cheese grater' on the Armadillo side of the river."

Cons:

  • "Only downside is you can't park outside anymore for disabled users."
  • "On street parking over the pedestrian bridge has now been changed, obviously to force you into the (paid) car parks, where you can wait for quite a while if busy."
  • "Pathetic venue, especially if you are driving to it. You have to pay £11 and then walk to this venue in the rain, and guess what walk past A VAST EMPTY CAR PARK IMMEDIATELY BESIDE THE VENUE."
  • "Very disappointed in mobility parking. Fine if you use a wheelchair. Husband can walk about a 100yds before he needs to stop and rest, distance from car park (level 2) to entrance is approx 400 yds."
  • "Only criticism is the new multi storey parking for the armadillo. Although there are disabled spaces within the multi storey it leaves a VERY long walk to the venue itself through the walkway."

Facilities

Pros:

  • "The armadillo itself is very spacious and comfortable seating, most of the staff and supervisor was helpful."
  • "Nice modern venue, decent facilities and comfortable seats."
  • "Venue itself had lift and escalator to top floors ...plenty of toilets. And clean."
  • "A superb venue to visit and enjoy some excellent entertainment."

Cons:

  • "The venue also closed all but one female toilet at the end of the night, which meant unnecessary hanging around at the end of the gig."
  • "Lovely theatre, BUT..... Not nearly enough toilets (ladies particularly) and it takes far too long to get out afterwards."
  • "However, last time we went there for a kids show they didn’t have any food (except for crisps and popcorn)."
  • "Downside was lack of ladies' toilet facilities on the ground floor - only one available and that was the disabled toilet or the gents'."
