Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The food was simply sublime, unlike anything I’ve ever tasted."
  • "Exceptional food, beautifully presented and paired well with fantastic wine."
  • "The food was, as to be expected, superb (order the Amalfi lemon tart), and the staff were beyond compare."
  • "The food is beyond everything we've ever had, everyone chose the tasting menu."
  • "Every dish was like a food explosion of flavours."
  • "The food tasted great, with a real diversity of flavour and texture that made every bite thoroughly enjoyable."
  • "The food from start to finish was amazing. I tasted so many things I have not tasted before which made it a really enjoyable dining experience."

Cons:

  • "The food was well presented but we found it bland and lacking taste and flavour which was very disappointing as well, not Michelin star standard and not worth the money."
  • "Other than the soufflé, the desserts were disappointing - tepid tarts and over-sweet rum baba."
  • "The pork with rhubarb was good. However, I felt that the meat was slightly tough and overcooked."
  • "The subsequent course was bland to the taste and to the eye: over-salted cod and a chicken dish with peas that few Italian cooks - if any - would allow onto a plate, I suspect."
  • "The pumpkin chorizo risotto which was slightly undercooked so the rice was gritty and chalky."
  • "The risotto primavera with pea & garlic was over garnished, too much radish and leaves on top of it."
  • "The pavlova dessert was terrible as the meringue was way too sticky and flat, which is not what a pavlova should be."

Service

Pros:

  • "The staff were excellent very attentive AND not in your space, knowledgeable of the menu and wine / cocktails."
  • "Service was great, and COVID measures were appropriate."
  • "All staff were exceptionally good, taking an absolute pride in their work."
  • "The staff is very professional and knowledgeable."
  • "The service was top notch; very professional with a hint of lovely humour."
  • "Service was outstanding, very attentive without being overbearing."
  • "The Maître D served us and didn't even write our order down. He remembered it perfectly. He was a true gentleman."

Cons:

  • "Although the service staff were amazing, we were disappointed not to be given stools for our handbags."
  • "Welcomed too table and instantly asked if we would like a drink - without even being given a drinks menu."
  • "Service surprisingly slow and casual (wine dripped everywhere and food not served at the same time)."
  • "Service very professional, with half of the staff inexperienced and sometimes a little bit too 'hot headed' and impatient."
  • "Service had room for improvement."
  • "In regards to the service, it was alright overall, however when one of the members of party noted that her main course (turbot) came not only cold but also semi raw, the head waiter suggested that maybe they should make her a new one, then suggested that she should either keep her current dish or cook the fish slightly more, as it would take too long to prep a new one- this was absolutely unacceptable."
  • "I was desperate to use the toilet as driver waiting claint, the staff told me ask the manager went inside, manager said is only for guests, very rude."

Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Nice, light dining room though lacked a bit of atmosphere in the late lunch sitting."
  • "The atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming unlike some other Michelin-starred restaurants."
  • "The atmosphere is truly perfect."
  • "It's relaxed comfortable and has a lively atmosphere."
  • "Private and cosy atmosphere."
  • "Pleasant ambience - understated and calm."
  • "Luxury, but not at all snooty."

Cons:

  • "The place itself is looking really tired and a bit drab which honestly surprised me."
  • "Good quality food, but didn't wow and in general lacked ambiance."
  • "The environment was initially very noisy."
  • "It's very hard to justify the cost of the menu, as a couple, we only had 2 courses and a glass of wine and the bill was nearly £200."
  • "However, the ambience was lacking and a little stiff."
  • "The meal was overly rushed, we were on the first sitting at 7pm but the pace of the meal was ridiculous."
  • "Lacked ambiance."

  • "Ordering off the set lunch menu (great value at £19 for 2 courses)."
  • "The lunch menu is great value for money and the food was amazing."
  • "Good value 3-course lunch (£40) for a Michelin stared restaurant."
  • "Also excellent value for money."
  • "This price plus current offer is pretty unbeatable and definitely worth a visit!"

Cons:

  • "Of course, the price is high, but it is really worth it."
  • "It's very hard to justify the cost of the menu, as a couple, we only had 2 courses and a glass of wine and the bill was nearly £200."
  • "Prices are reasonable although wines are expensive as is typical for this type of establishment."
  • "I would only fault the wine list that albeit long it is extremely overpriced."
