Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Pies are, of course, the plate to go for and they are out-of-this-world good."
  • "A good number of veggie options and all that I tried were delicious."
  • "Fabulous tasting pies, friendly service and a really great atmosphere."
  • "The Chicken & Leek Pie was very good – loads of chicken with a buttercrust pastry top."

  • "Definitely the best pie I've had!"
  • "The pies were delicious, tasty and good quality ingredients."

Cons:

  • "The pies (filling and pastry) were watery and bland, and had no seasoning in them what so ever- the mash potato- which I was expecting to be buttery- tasted waterlogged."
  • "Save yourself a lot of money and disappointment by buying a pie from a supermarket."
  • "Food is ok but Β£16 for a pie and mash was cold."
  • "Both ordered the pot vegan pie, disappointed this was the only vegan option available to order from phone app menu at table."
  • "The puff pastry on my Pork Wellington was equally tough, no puff or flakiness at all."
  • "Really disappointing. Overpriced pies (Β£19pp) - not much taste, we had two different pies which basically tasted the same and the pastry didn't taste fresh."
  • "The food was extremely disappointing and the portion sizes are small for around Β£19+ prices per pie, not including sides."

Service

Pros:

  • "Lovely service from the staff and great atmosphere outside by the river."
  • "Staff were super nice πŸ‘Œ"

Cons:

  • "The staff pay lip service to the concept of diners but still charge you 12.5% service for treating you like an inconvenience to their social lives."
  • "Bouncer with the dreadlocks didn't let us in and wouldn't give us a reason."
  • "Not sure about this place. The staff didn't seem especially friendly and the beer was over priced."
  • "The manager should not be working here. Tall guy very rude and arrogant."
  • "Really bad manners, very rude staff."

Price

Pros:

  • "Plus they had an offer wine and pie Β£13. A must go place!!!"
  • "I think we paid around Β£12 a head, which certainly isn’t bad for a restaurant in Putney."

  • "Quick service, delicious dishes and affordable! Super convenient!"
  • "A celebration of Britishness on a totally affordable scale!"
  • "Amazing (and well priced) pies."
  • "Service top notch too, will definitely be back to try the other pies."

Cons:

  • "I felt ripped off when our bill came to just over Β£50 for 2 pies with mash and gravy, tiny portion of fries and 1 pint."
  • "But seriously Β£48.26 for two pies and mash and two diet coke is very expensive."
  • "Β£19.95 feels like a lot but if you go elsewhere and have one for a little less I guarantee it won’t be a fraction of the quality."
  • "Overpriced & average pies, was a bit disappointed to be honest, as I had high hopes for this place."
  • "Β£18 for a pie and chips is very expensive and the service was very very slow on not a particularly busy night."
  • "Way overpriced and Average at best."
  • "Very tasty pie and mash. Super expensive for what it was though- Β£17.95 for pie, mash and gravy."

  • "The decor is really lovely and the setting felt very romantic with the candle lit tables."
  • "The environment is unexpectedly interesting, there is an underground floor that looks like a tunnel and leads to a back garden facing the river."

Cons:

  • "Queueing for over half an hour for one toilet - and then for the other male toilet too - is unacceptable."
  • "The downstairs also turned into a pulsing nightclub style bar at 8:45pm with music so loud we couldn’t talk to each other so we left without trying the dessert!"
