Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "It’s quaint, it’s cozy, it’s homely and I’m very jealous of the (probably rather wealthy) folk who call this their local."
  • "A fantastic friendly “proper” old-school pub, full of atmosphere in a quiet street."
  • "Definitely a quirky independent pub located in the back mewses of Belgravia."
  • "The pub itself has really charm inside with it's low ceilings and traditional decor."
  • "What an amazing pub. So much character, great beers and a legend of a Landlord."
  • "The pub itself has a great atmosphere in an old Victorian building."
  • "Classic local pub, filled with an extraordinary collection of bits and pieces, which become even more interesting the more you drink!"

Cons:

  • "Cozy place. It definitely has a personality of its own, but all the decorations make it overstuffed."
  • "Just horrible. Cluttered, nasty, snappy staff, very overpriced beer."
  • "The place is full of old pictures and artifacts and it has been open since 80s so you feel like you’re time traveling."
  • "Such a shame that this quirky little pub is absolutely ruined by the hostile, xenophobic, curmudgeon of a landlord behind the bar."
  • "Got to be one of the most unwelcoming places I have ever been!"
  • "A simply perfect pub which has time travelled here from times gone by."
  • "Also no mobile phone sentiment is lovely but the way it is enforced creates a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "The staff are very friendly as long as you follow the rules."
  • "Kevin is still here, after some 40 years. is still his loveable, curmudgeonly self."
  • "The owner Kevin was very social."

  • "The bar staff were very friendly!"
  • "Couldn't fault the service and there was a decent selection of drinks too, especially considering the space."
  • "Had never been here before but was made to feel most welcome by staff and regulars alike."

Cons:

  • "The owner is very rude! I was listening the music, I had a drink and half an hour later I was asked to have another drink or to leave!!!"
  • "Staff hate non locals, they don't want to serve people."
  • "Very rude and arrogant staff, with an arbitrary minimum charge for card payments which seems to change depending on who or what drinks are being ordered."
  • "Horribly rude bar staff (two blonde women) who seem to resent your presence in ‘their’ pub."
  • "Rude staff and very disappointing place to drink at."
  • "The incredibly rude, dead in the eyes staff should hang their hats and find a new career."
  • "Bar staff seemed angry and aggressive after asking for drinks."

Pricing and Payment Policy

Pros:

  • "Good beer too."
  • "Nice beer, too."
  • "The ales are from Adnams and well kept."
  • "My pint was nice enough but at £7 made it the most expensive pint in Belgravia!"
  • "Some of the reviews comment on the price being expensive but considering you're in the heart of knightsbridge, seconds away from Gordon Ramsey's Michelin star restaurant, surrounded my millionaires and posh shops, I didn't think £7 for a pint was unreasonable."
