Atmosphere and Decor

Pros:

  • "The place is totally hidden, however once you get to the dining hall it is totally vibrant and busy."
  • "The interior is beautiful with high ceilings, candles, tablecloths, etc."
  • "Service and ambiance were incredible. Really beautiful dining room."
  • "It rocks!! You can live the princess’s dream. The place is like a small renaissance castle, full of candles and modern art pieces on the walls."
  • "The atmosphere, lighting, and service was wonderful."
  • "Absolutely amazing! I loved the ambiance of the place as well as the food."
  • "Come here for the atmosphere, for sure. It's a beautiful restaurant."

Cons:

  • "While on the terrace for our dessert, my friend put her bag on the floor which got wet and the staff was so very kind to immediately come to rescue with napkins."
  • "The place looks very pretty but the service is not great. We asked the waitress to explain some dishes on the menu but she didn’t know what were the ingredients and seemed confused."
  • "We first were concerned about the food, but the reviews ended up wrong - it’s tasty, inspiring and creative."

Food Quality and Taste

Pros:

  • "Food, service and atmosphere were all amazing. For me the pork with green beans, chicory and red wine and anchovy sauce was the highlight."
  • "The shrimp croquette batter was so thick and chewy, gave us a horrible texture in mouth."
  • "The brown shrimp croquettes with melted butter Centre, confit potato and smoked eel, excellent squid and pasta, and the utterly divine chocolate tart were amazing."
  • "Every dish that came out was very near perfect."
  • "The smoked eel and potato dish was epic."
  • "The food was beautiful and a pleasure to eat. Each dish felt very considered."
  • "The food is so imaginative and such high quality produce."

Cons:

  • "Food is secondary here, without being bad. All the dishes were lacking an element of freshness and seasoning."
  • "Although they had spins on originals, like a cherry mezcal or a sour Negroni, there was no balance to the flavors, it was all one note."
  • "The shrimp croquette batter was so thick and chewy, gave us a horrible texture in mouth."
  • "The food was bland, boring, underwhelming and portions extremely small and cold… £31 for a slather of sirloin - more specifically just a mouthful, that was supposed to be “shared” amongst 4 people?"
  • "Food is below average, and even worse considering the price. Bread was good and the croquette too, but all the rest was tasteless."
  • "The food was very average especially for the price."
  • "The food was underwhelming and extremely overpriced."

Service

Pros:

  • "Service and ambiance were incredible. Really beautiful dining room, great menu, servers knew the menu very well."
  • "Had been meaning to try Sessions for a while and was blown away by the incredible food, interior, and service."
  • "The service charge seemed quite steep for an already pricier meal."
  • "The chill vibe combined with the willingness and the 'know how' of the people there, made me feel that this is my favourite place so far."
  • "The staff upstairs were warm and welcoming from the start - some of the best service we’ve had in London for a long time."
  • "The service was sublime, the food was insane and the venue is the cherry on top."

Cons:

  • "Service wasn't great either, our lamb arrived 20 mins before our mushroom and veg dishes."
  • "The service was just average. I appreciate they have only opened recently but some of the staff looked like they had never worked in hospitality before."
  • "Our server also brought us wrong dishes several times (I think it was his first week so we'll give him a deserved pass!)."
  • "The service was deeply average, as is the case with most restaurants post-Covid."
  • "Service was pretty poor, we had to ask for the waiters/waitresses multiple times to check our food was coming."
  • "Service is super friendly, attentive and informative, without being fussy. The menu just wasn’t for me."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "Had a stellar dinner here and cannot recommend it enough! One of London’s trendiest new spots, reservations are hard to come by so I was thrilled to nab a table."
  • "Out of everything we had including dessert with the glass of wine and Tomato Vodka Spritz everything was top notch."
  • "With two drinks and the tip bill came to 160£ which felt the right price to pay - with expectations set that it’s not gastropub but a restaurant with creative cuisine and superb ambiance."

Cons:

  • "Extremely overpriced for the portions and quality of food. I love simple British cuisine but honestly most of the dishes were lacking that extra something to make it special."
  • "The price is way too high for the portions you get. I bet they could increase (for a very low cost on their side) the portion sizes and easily make it a 5-star experience."
  • "The food was very average especially for the price. You're also in and out in about an hour. Very rushed."
  • "The wine menu is extensive but it is extremely overpriced even for London standards."
  • "The food was incredibly delicious, but giving it 4 stars out of 5 since the food was a tad overpriced for what it was."
  • "The restaurant itself is gorgeous - they've decorated really well, it's a beautiful place to sit and have a drink. The food, however, was just average."
