  • "Really pleasant interior and very friendly waitress."
  • "This is a lovely pub, the cocktails are amazing and the food is good, very friendly and welcoming atmosphere."

Cons:

  • "Although just one couple arrived afterwards the only atmosphere in the place, apart from the overwhelming smell of old chip fat as we walked in, was the persistent head banging heavy metal rock music."
  • "It's a bit noisy and uncomfortable. The place doesn't feel very clean and the toilets aren't nice at all."
  • "Pretty terrible if you just want a pint."
  • "What used to be the Grand Union has undergone a really nice refurbishment an re-brand back to the original name of the pub."
  • "Nice boozer and welcome addition to Kennington ( appreciate its been around for a couple of years)."
  • "Terrible acoustics - can hardly hear yourself speak. To add to that cacophony the music is overly loud."
  • "You have to be patient these days given the pandemic but this place has very rude staff, I waited 45 mins for a pint that cost me £6.60."
  • "Really really disappointing. The made us wait for around 45min for nothing. They cancelled our order at last minute as they couldn't cope with with all the demands."

Service and Staff

Pros:

  • "New owners and new staff, but still pretty much like it used to be."
  • "Excellent food - I had the steak and ale pie- and a very good selection of craft beers on tap. Service was prompt and friendly."
  • "The team at The Tankard were amazing throughout and looked after us very well."
  • "We love the balcony for people watching. There are some decent options for beers here."

Cons:

  • "The nachos I ordered were served cold and the constant requests for a tip every time you pay for a pint are very unwelcome."
  • "The waiter was a nice guy and the bar lady was friendly."
  • "Service pretty shoddy - on a quiet Wednesday dirty plates left uncollected on vacated tables for 30 mins while staff chatted or smoked outside."
  • "Half of the team of 4 clearly did not want to be there."
  • "2 customers in the pyb, 3 staff behind the counter, 2 on phones, the other one (moustache and blonde quiff) ignored me for 5 minutes."
  • "The staff failed to help seat us and ask us if high chairs were needed for the children."
  • "The service wasn't that inviting. They didn't know what ingredients were in some of the meals."
  • "Suffering from lockdown I think. Service was....not wonderful."

Food Quality

  • "What a rip off Pork slices roasted on a tray Potatoes pale as Was told belly, it was loin Bisto, I mean, I know it's someone's thing but for the price? Gimme real gravy please."
  • "Worst experience! Not very friendly staff and the food was disgusting!"
  • "Food was good, beer was good, staff were great but can only give 3 stars because the table tells you to use the brewdog app to order which is TERRIBLE."
  • "Service is terrible. I really wanted to like it, as the beer is great and the roof is beautiful."
  • "Staff was friendly and place is good comfy but food wasn’t good. We ordered rump steak (medto well) and cheeseburger. Steak was so dry and no taste at all burger meat burned."

Overall Experience

Pros:

  • "A fantastic place in summer. We love the balcony for people watching."
  • "Great London pub near the Imperial War Museum. Lovely food- they had some availability issues but offered us other items to make up the meal."
  • "I celebrated my birthday in their roof terrace room, a brilliant location with lots of charm and great views of the park of the Imperial War Museum."
  • "Astonishingly poor experience on two occasions. Warm summer Friday night with the upstairs bar closed."
  • "A group of 14-15 of us walked in on a Friday afternoon and wanted to sit together. We pushed 3 tables together before getting told off by a member of staff."
  • "Great location with a roof beer garden terrace. Although crowded the roof beer garden is a great place to meet and drink."
  • "The heaters didn't work and the men's toilets had issues that night. Not been back to check but I definitely will because the staff were great and accommodating."
  • "Really bad service. Very slow (45 minutes for a drink is ludicrous) and rude staff."

Cons:

  • "Do NOT come here to watch the Rugby World Cup! Despite advertising it, they don't even have a licence for the audio so this is not the place to watch a game!"
  • "Absolute disgraceful behaviour from the bar staff, shouting slurs about our brave boys in blue."
  • "Cocktails were okay. Service was not as good, tables unclean and no one came to quickly wipe it after asking."
  • "Been excited to try this pub for a while as it always looked nice but disappointing first visit yesterday."
  • "i went for the bottomless wings and loved it! £11.50 it was only two flavours but i loved the actual wing flavour and breading!"
  • "A mixed bag. On one hand the staff are excellent - really welcoming and happy to let you try something before committing to a pint."
  • "Suspect the Draft House chain is being run into the ground by new (ish) owners Brewdog. Decent quiz on a Tuesday night but lots of problems here."
  • "The tap list on their website wasn't up to date and the bar staff seemed to be a bit dismissive when I asked for a particular beer they had advertised."
