Food Quality and Taste

Pros:

  • "The main dishes were served with huge portion sizes and meant we probably shouldn’t have ordered as many starters to share, but given how tasty everything was there were no regrets!"
  • "The rice and pad Thai were incredible! Starters were also great value."
  • "One of my favorites is the Nyonya curry also love the green Thai curry and the starters. Everything I have eaten is pretty top-notch!"
  • "My fav dish is curry laksa seafood! The seafood curry laksa, hainan chicken rice, pad thai, calamari, milk tea, and lychee with coconut water are all highly recommended."
  • "As a Singaporean, I was glad to have found Ekachai. The food was fairly authentic, tasty, and came in very decent portion sizes."

Cons:

  • "The food was ok, didn't expect the Thai milk tea to be foamy and it was quite small. The chicken mince stir fry was a bit bland."
  • "The Hainan chicken rice was a little on the ginger side but, still edible."
  • "Food was okay, although I wasn’t really impressed with the service. The food arrived lukewarm."
  • "The squid was very tough and rubbery. Pad thai needed a touch more flavour."
  • "Wonton soup was bland and overcooked sad noodles."

Service and Staff

Pros:

  • "While the service felt a little slow to start with it was redeemed with a really funny and entertaining member of staff who ended up being proactive and professional for the rest of the visit."
  • "Staff were friendly and efficient. They were also patient with my parents and children."
  • "Staff also friendly and quick service during my visit."
  • "Carmen is amazing! We had two toddlers and she won them over and had them laughing and eating."
  • "Service - very pleasant, prompt, polite."

Cons:

  • "Didn't like the sneaky charge for rice, like do you expect people to just order the side without rice? The waitresses were quite relentless."
  • "Didn't really feel the visit was welcomed & they wanted us to leave before a certain time despite having a table booked."
  • "The guy who took our order looked disinterested in providing any service and was a bit rude and patronising when we called him over to add to the order."
  • "Service was a bit disappointing, so I cannot give 5 stars."
  • "The staff at the Kings across branch is extremely rude and non cooperative."

Ambiance and Decor

Pros:

  • "It’s a cozy cute place with yummy food - almost always full and hard to get a table."
  • "The service is good and quick, the place is well decorated, accommodates large groups and has outdoor tables."
  • "Also liked sitting beside the window and enjoyed the view."
  • "Very colourful interiors, making the ambiance welcoming too!"
  • "The decor was good and we were seated immediately."

Cons:

  • "The dining area is small with the tables crammed in, so you’ll ideally want to have a reservation."
  • "I did find the environment a bit too loud from general chit chat around the space as everyone is clustered together with not much space between tables."
  • "There was no separate seating for the 2 of us to sit, we had to share the long table with other people."
  • "And though it's decor was deliberately minimalistic in nature, the wooden seats did start to take their toll on our collective behinds after a while."
  • "Most tables are shared though."
