Pool and Swimming Experience

Pros:

  • "Amazing pool; outdoor and heated means it's perfect for all year round."
  • "Great pool, clean and not too busy during the week."
  • "The facilities are very clean and tidy, staff are super friendly and the pool itself is pretty large."
  • "The pool is always a gorgeous temperature, summer or winter."
  • "Beautiful 50m heated lido. Showers are clean and hot."
  • "It's a great outdoor pool, but gets pretty crowded as a result."
  • "Love this swimming pool. Set in the middle of a park so it's really nice to go in summer."

Cons:

  • "The pool is regularly dirty which is understandable considering it being outdoors, but as a past pool lifeguard the tiles on the sides and floor of the pool really need a good clean."
  • "The pool is very shallow, my only critique!"
  • "Otherwise nice pool, though can get quite filthy when busy."
  • "3 stars because the swimming pool was dirty (I caught a lot of hair in my hands while swimming), and the toilets were awful."
  • "The pool itself is beautiful but overcrowded with people carelessly swimming slow in any of the lanes."
  • "Too many people, but the worse it that I was expecting more space for the people to stay around the pool."
  • "Too Overcrowded!!! Especially now when the weather is nice."

Facilities and Amenities

Pros:

  • "Has a cafe inside and outside, good clean changing rooms, towel rental for a quid, and a swimsuit dryer centrifuge in the toilets."
  • "Greeted with a warm welcome by the lady on the desk, clean and modern changing rooms inside and out, warm showers and a spotlessly clean pool in beautiful surroundings."
  • "Lockers outside free of charge."
  • "Friendly staff, clean changing rooms with hairdryers."
  • "The changing rooms are clean and spacious. In fact, the whole facility feels well looked after."
  • "Very slick operation - clean, ample changing and showering facilities."
  • "The staff are friendly and helpful."

Cons:

  • "Entry is a bit expensive and you might get a slightly better deal at the nearby London Aquatics Centre."
  • "They only have one shower with a door and that shower does even have a shower pipe on it, only one toilet."
  • "Pool ok and water is warm enough, but changing facilities are horrible ... Outdoor changing cabins with freezing ground, portable toilets by the pool (enjoy going in there barefeet), not enough showers."
  • "However the toilets and changing rooms were not clean in the slightest which is disappointing."
  • "The floor and benches in the changing room are constantly muddy."
  • "Sadly the staff haven't quite worked out how to mop a floor or ask people take their muddy shoes off so changing rooms are still gross."
  • "Indoor changing rooms are small and messy."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "Such a nice way to unwind after work, nice facilities, helpful staff, appreciate the bike pump and great capacity for locking up bikes."
  • "Nice staff."
  • "I am disabled but the staff there are very helpful I have to say a special thanks to the general manager Raph, I arrived at 6:30 this morning by 6:45 he had already helped me three times!"
  • "Very helpful staff."
  • "Every member of staff is super friendly and helpful."
  • "Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful in explaining things and getting me started - thanks David!"
  • "The staff are kind, friendly and informative and they work hard to make the pool nice for the local community."

Cons:

  • "Dog owners are rude if I ask them to have their dangerous dogs on leash."
  • "A lady names Bernadette had ruined my family’s entire day and had screamed at my child and myself."
  • "The staff look stoned and wouldn’t rush for anyone."
  • "Staff here are horrible."
  • "As a first timer I am very disappointed. Booked a swim doctor session with Naomi and when we arrived she did not acknowledge us just told us to get in the pool without any clear instructions."
  • "Staff was meh."
  • "Awful experience!!! The pool itself looks very nice, so does the location! However, the parking is on the street, and it is a bit expensive... but besides that, we had an awful experience with the staff, and in the end we decided to leave..."

Park and Surroundings

Pros:

  • "For me, this is one of the best open spaces within inner London."
  • "A great park, and a much-needed green space in the urban sprawl of Hackney."
  • "2 nice kids playgrounds (the southern one gets overlooked but has great climbing stuff) and lots of open space for football etc."
  • "London Fields is a lovely green space with mature plane trees, two kids' playgrounds, tennis courts and a free paddling pool."
  • "There is also several pubs and an open aired swimming pool adjacent to the park."
  • "Lovely park for picnic after, Broadway food market a must-visit for after."
  • "London Fields is one of Hackney's most popular parks."

Cons:

  • "It can feel a bit like Glastonbury on a good (or bad!) weekend."
  • "The park can get over crowded in the summer with BBQ smoke everywhere."
  • "The park doesn’t close at night like some of the other parks, as it has a cut through pathway all day/ night."
  • "Plus it's become spoilt by the amount of people who visit at the weekend and leave their rubbish everywhere."
  • "Too busy & poorly treated by visitors. Too much rubbish & alcohol consumption with violent & aggressive drinkers."
  • "Often, there are big dogs like pitbulls running free around."
  • "Dangerous and not safe for women!! My partner was attached by another swimmer and had her head pushed under several times!!"
