Ambiance and Location

Pros:

  • "The location is beautiful and next to the beautiful Longshaw estate near grindleford, Hathersage and padley gorge."

Cons:

  • "The car park is generally very busy as there are plenty of walks around so that is the only downside as can be almost impossible to park sometimes."
  • "You also have to get through the bar queue and climb around tables to go to the toilet which can be awkward when it's busy."
  • "Pub is a daytime place, no real atmosphere after 8.30pm and quite cold."
  • "Visited on the weekend so it was busy, to be expected, but as it was raining heavily outside we at least expected to be able to find seating inside, which wasn't the case at all."
  • "The wonderful atmosphere had gone, the informal bar area had gone and the whole establishment had become nothing more than a glorified chain restaurant."
  • "Parking is a bit rough, and the access could be better."
  • "Customers for the bar aren't allowed to sit in the restaurant area if there are no seats available (even if the table isn't reserved)."
