Beer and Drinks Selection

Pros:

  • "Great selection of beers and would recommend!"
  • "There are always gluten free beer options in tap, which is great for me as I have coeliac disease and can't have gluten."
  • "Nice location. Good beer selection. Friendly staff and cracking music."
  • "In normal times they have the best choice of real ales in Cambridge Central."
  • "Firstly, the beer selection is amazing. A massive variety and lots of local beers/ciders to try."
  • "Best gin selection in Cambridge."
  • "The variety or beer, lager, ales, gins etc was top notch."

Cons:

  • "Everything is hideously overpriced."
  • "£20 for any and all roasts, including vegetarian."
  • "The only ice cream flavours available are maple and ginger."
  • "The available beers were listed on a blackboard with no description of what they were like, when the beer arrived we didn't enjoy it at all."
  • "It is expensive though (cheapest pint is about £4.20, craft keg beers go up from there), and can get very busy."
  • "The prices of the keg beers are borderline obscene, certainly the most expensive I've seen anywhere in the UK."
  • "Decent enough beer, but the real ale is incredibly expensive for what it is."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Scotch egg and chicken wings to start - both fantastic."
  • "Everything on the charcuterie board are nice, scotch eggs are tasty, croquettes are yummy."
  • "Highlight was the food, home made scotch eggs and sausage rolls."
  • "However their halloumi flatbread is fantastic."
  • "The chicken and chips was tasty and the burger was nice too and good value for money."
  • "I can't fault the food here, it is always perfectly prepared, cooked and presented."
  • "Food was amazing, I had the Turmeric & Yoghurt Marinated Chicken, def recommend!"

Cons:

  • "One of our meals was forgotten about so not great."
  • "The last 3 visits all had significant issues with both the length of time to receive meals and the accuracy of the food delivered."
  • "Service was terrible. Food taken away before we were finished."
  • "Unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. The vegetarian roast dinner was foul - the fake meat was practically inedible."
  • "The hangar steak was requested at a medium but was more of a rare, and had no flavor."
  • "The portion of fish was minuscule, the side described in great words on the menu was mainly potatoes in an unappetising creamy sauce."
  • "Both the house and vegan burgers were burnt black."

  • "The staff are so friendly & welcoming."

Cons:

  • "The upstairs dining room last night, which was very, very brightly lit and very hot."
  • "Response was a bit slow by email so thought calling would be quicker."
  • "Only downside: service can still be a bit hit or miss in the restaurant."
  • "Service was a little slow last time but still friendly."
  • "More problematic are the staff, at least on the day I visited."
  • "The staff were standoffish and we sat for some time trying to catch the eye so we could at least order a drink."
  • "Waitresses/Management didn't communicate with us about the delay in our food order even though they knew about it."
