Experience

Pros:

  • "The aquarium itself was beautifully decorated, we were very impressed with the attention to detail on the scenery and decoration as we walked around."
  • "A good few hours spent here, kids especially loved the ocean tunnel with the sharks and fish swimming overhead."
  • "Really good place to visit. Fantastic experience walking past massive ocean creatures."
  • "Great day out for all ages with disabled access."
  • "Amazing little trip with our 7 month old who loves water and is obsessed with aquariums."
  • "Great experience, loved the sharks best and the clear underwater tunnel."
  • "The ‘under the sea’ tunnel was amazing"

Cons:

  • "Many of the interactive sections no longer work."
  • "Rather expensive. Would have thought the photos taken at the start of the visit were included in the price- but no, extra £15-30."
  • "Only criticism is that they refuse to accept cash in the gift shop, very unfair on kids who want to buy themselves a treat"
  • "The facility seemed poorly maintained with sticky floors and dirty tanks."
  • "This was good but I think a little expensive for the size of it, we were in and out within the hour and its £20.50 per person."
  • "Too many people allowed in at once. Was a complete fire risk."
  • "The toilet facilities were a bit of a let down, the smell of urine was very off putting and over powering."

Staff

Pros:

  • "Staff were nice and friendly and the exhibits were really interesting."
  • "The staff really are so enthusiastic about what they do and love to show off their knowledge of all the fascinating creatures they have in there."
  • "And Kyle was brilliant very informative and entertaining"
  • "The staff are friendly and helpful."
  • "Staff were polite friendly and the place was lovely."
  • "They have some very knowledgeable staff around the place informing you about the exhibits."
  • "Staff were so accommodating, knowledgeable, helpful, and very child friendly."

Cons:

  • "The photo guy was obviously having a bad day... thank goodness we only had to deal with him the once, all other staff were as friendly as usual."
  • "Got the impression everyone had literally just walked in, hung up their coats and then run through to open the doors, late."
  • "When I asked I was rudely told - it's a bank holiday weekend what did you expect?"
  • "Rude receptionist! We arrived slightly late for our pre booked visit due to being unable to find appropriate parking."
  • "The man was commentating the same information over and over again really did get on our nerves, you'll find that man near the rock pool."
  • "Our experience wasn't brilliant but we've been before and know that normally the staff aren't rude to the customers."
  • "I felt a lack of safety was amiss as they continued to admit more and more people."

Accessibility

Pros:

  • "They do accept walk ins, but the waiting time is usually an hour."
  • "One way system which is great as can't get lost and don't miss out on anything."
  • "Online booking makes it very easy to get in. It is on a main tram stop on the front so easy to get to."
  • "The toilets were clean but need checking a bit more frequently I feel as it can ruin the experience for some."
  • "There is wheelchair access."
  • "Very disabled accessible."
  • "The access for wheelchairs and prams is slightly annoying on a design basis."

Cons:

  • "There is only 1 set of toilets throughout the complex which can be a bit of a pain if your youngster is far away from them."
  • "Was advised to try the lift before I paid for entry as it's the only wheelchair access, it's barely wide enough for a pushchair... Not very good."
  • "The exit was not clear. (I am sight impaired so it might have been obvious to someone else) I did need help from my partner to navigate as the flooring and design is lovely and immersive but I had to be careful not to trip in places."
  • "Bit expensive two adults and one three year old was 46 pound."
  • "One downfall was the use of screens to provide information on the exhibits."
  • "Be aware it's got stairs and when we visited the lift was out of order, so if you have wheels plan ahead."
  • "The lift was ridiculously small, I literally just fit me, a pushchair and my 3 small children in it, it created massive queues going in and out the premises."

Value

Pros:

  • "Prices are fair"
  • "£20 for an adult ticket and under 3 year olds are free 👍🏻."
  • "Good value for money and amazing variety of aquatic life!"
  • "Tickets only cost £2 as used my tesco vouchers, I get the normal price looking after all the fish but these days need to watch the pennies."
  • "Really good value for money. The centre had plenty of sealife specimens."
  • "The pricing is definitely good value."

Cons:

Cons:

  • "The animals looked like they are well looked after and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, many of the interactive points were broken or broke as we were using them, which spoiled the experience."
  • "We felt rushed around the attraction and didn’t get to linger long at any tank/area."
  • "Unfortunately one of the main display pools was closed for upgrading when we visited."
