Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "We spoke to a member of staff called Ethan who was brilliant. He went above and beyond to find us an available member of staff so our kids could go on the climbing wall."
  • "The staff members were friendly and helpful, ready to assist with any queries or directions we needed."
  • "Have to say Ashley the maintenance/customer service guy was brilliant and really helpful."
  • "The staff are nice as well."
  • "Staff were really helpful and friendly."
  • "Ethan was so polite and made sure he stayed around for us to be able to use the VR before we left too."
  • "Friendly staff and very clean."

Cons:

  • "The lady that ushered us out was extremely rude and watched outside eating the ice cream and then proceeded to follow us on re-entering the pier."
  • "Went to an arcade with my 2 autistic children... Was told to take it down. I told the employee that he has autism. He said I don't care he takes it off or leave."
  • "When we arrived at the climbing wall we were told to come back at 7pm for the next time slot. When we came back there wasn't any staff manning the climbing wall as the staff had gone home which was disappointing."
  • "But please avoid the fair games to the right (between Pier & McDonald's) Like to discriminate to people with disabilities, let a young girl hang from the bar game, then said it wasn't suitable for someone like my son, who is in a wheelchair."
  • "Extremely rude staff. We had our dog on the pier and one of the amusement staff came to us and said we wasn’t allowed dogs in the amusements."
  • "Shame it got took over. The pier isn't as good as when we visited 2 years ago. For these reasons: ... Staff are nowhere to be seen."
  • "Waitress arrived with food and some of mine was tipped precariously over the table and no apology given; the spillage left and it wasn't until sometime later that three replacement scampi were given to me."

Arcades and Entertainment

Pros:

  • "Arcades are a great mix of some old school machines I haven't seen since I was a kid and some new ones for the xbox generation."
  • "The arcade itself has a wide variety of both classic games & modern additions such as their new Virtual Reality experience pictured."
  • "Great family fun, food, arcades.. and entertainment.. love it!"
  • "The pier is always full of entertainment has plenty for all the family if you are willing to spend some money."
  • "Plenty of arcade games in here. Without it costing an arm and leg you can entertain the kids here on the sliding penny games were a prize comes fairly easy."
  • "Fantastic pier with so much to do like arcades bowling and soft play."
  • "One of the highlights of the pier is the wide range of thrilling rides on offer."

Cons:

  • "It's nothing like it used to be sadly like many seaside places."
  • "The vast majority of the pier is taken up by a huge amusement arcade. If you want to spend money on arcade games and amusements while being deafened by music then you will find this place fun and will be entertained for hours on end. For me however I found the arcade part of the pier horrific and couldn't get out quickly enough."
  • "The arcades too expensive and the money goes too fast, with only tickets for tat prizes."
  • "New pub on the pier but doesn't have a toilet so you have to go back along the pier past all the dumped broken arcade machines that are an absolute eye sore and looks like a tip."
  • "These arcades are *actually* a scam, many don't give out winnings despite it clearly showing your winnings drop such as in the downstairs coin dozers and similar."
  • "About a 3rd of the venue is full of broken dumped machines which is a total eyesore."
  • "The actual pier was accessible however the attraction Skegness pier was shocking..."

Cleanliness and Maintenance

Pros:

  • "All clean and felt safe and staff present."
  • "It was as covid friendly as that type of place can be - attractions closing hourly to be cleaned, hand sanitiser etc."
  • "Always a great spot to sit on a warm, sunny day either with a drink, ice cream or donuts. Friendly vendors and staff and the area is usually very clean."
  • "Very nice pier with free deckchairs, refreshments and funfair close by, clean tidy beach below."
  • "The beach is cleaned each day."
  • "Impressed with the cleanliness and helpful small lift for disabled."
  • "The beach gets busy but is cleaned early morning. Could do with a few more big bins so that people can clean up after themselves."

Cons:

  • "The toilets are disgusting, with the hand basin taps barely working and the automatic hand drier not working."
  • "The pier itself is really in need of a good overall, it looks quite dull and shabby in my opinion, could do with a good lick of paint."
  • "There is also a soft play area here but it isn't very big and looks very dirty could do with a deep clean."
  • "Skegness why o why don't you clean it, it's a lovely very littered beach, I could have filled 3 black bin bags just looking down from the pier."
  • "Only criticism is the toilets could do with some money spent on them but other than that it's awesome."
  • "Sadly the weather wasn't Great."
  • "It's an old fashioned sea side town, with amusements, bars and places to eat."
