Park and Ride Service

  • "First class service, can’t fault."
  • "The buses run regularly and most customers are abiding to mask wearing as far as I could see."
  • "The buses are clean and comfortable offering free WiFi and USB charging at each seat."
  • "Easy and hassle free way to park your car and head off into the centre using the bus."
  • "If you are visiting Oxford for the day, I recommend the Park & Ride."

Cons:

  • "Twice the hassle."
  • "It's a little confusing on payment as you seem to need to pay at the tickets to get the bus included."
  • "The machines for parking are ridiculous."
  • "Seriously as you enter you follow the roadway to be met with T junctions as you drive to the exit that is ambiguously marked."
  • "Waited 10 minutes over at the George st Bus Stop for a bus that never came, walked to the next stop to see the late bus pull in and close the doors just as I had sprinted to them."
  • "You have to pay for car park and bus separately, which for a family adds up to the same price as parking in the centre."
  • "No parking spaces; had to move some cones to make a space!"

Car Park Facilities

Pros:

  • "As a carpark it is amazing. You can park your car here, amazing but they do charge you but £2 for 11 hours is a good deal."
  • "No need to display a ticket in your car, as your licence plate is recorded on entry and just go straight to a pay machine after parking - type in your licence plate number and pay for parking."
  • "There is CCTV & ANPR cameras fitted at this car park."
  • "The carpark is huge, and there are charging points available."
  • "Very convenient park and ride."
  • "Large car park and buses run every 10-15 minutes to and from the centre."
  • "This is park and ride bus service situated at the junction of the A40 and A34 on the western outskirts of Oxford."

Cons:

  • "There was rubbish and dog mess all over the place."
  • "1000 spaces, only 1 electric car charging point? Not a great approach for a city that's introducing low emission zones to discourage non-electric cars."
  • "I wish there was a coffee stand and toilets."
  • "Not satisfied with the vending machine signs."
  • "Nothing wrong with the car park but it is currently surrounded by roadworks and it can be almost 1 hour's wait for a bus."
  • "The only way out of the car park involves negotiating a very very busy sliproad without any pedestrian or cycle crossing."
  • "Too expensive for how far from the city centre it is."

Customer Service

Pros:

  • "Parking and bus can be paid for on card and when we went there was a lovely chap selling the bus tickets and providing great advice."

  • "On our return journey, I showed the female driver my ticket to Pear Tree, she neglected to tell me this was a 300 bus to a totally different park and ride on the opposite side of the city."

  • "Straightforward and simple, with nice regular buses going into Oxford."
  • "Very good value."
  • "It is much cheaper to park here and get the bus into the city than to park nearer the city centre."

Cons:

  • "It's does what it says 'park and ride' although you pay to park and then pay to ride ......That's what the sign should say..still the cheapest way to get in."
  • "Pay to park and then pay again for the bus? Ridiculous."

Cons:

  • "The place is a mess, children and dogs roaming the site. Dangerous for drivers."
  • "THIEVES OPERATE IN THIS AREA!!! I see a lot of vans/cars with windows smashed in the pear tree almost on a weekly basis."
  • "Great facility, let down by half of the payment machines not working and the remainder so unintuitive that no one could work out how to use them."
  • "Rude drivers and non-sensical process of buying a parking ticket then a separate bus ticket."
  • "When I went there were many travellers caravans and white vans parked haphazardly and taking up loads of space."
  • "Good getting in but.... not at all good going home. Theatre end time and buses over 30 minutes apart. Surely at this time of the evening there should be many more."
  • "And on Oxford City centre around a 40 minute wait to get back to Pear Tree on a service that is meant to be every 10 minutes."
