Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The steak is definitely my favorite and I totally recommend it."
  • "A good choice of steaks/cuts to suit everyone and the open kitchen and cooking area is a nice touch."
  • "The steak frites at 15 pounds (available until 7 pm) was just unbeatable, and the quality was excellent."
  • "The steak was succulent and juicy, exactly how I like it."
  • "The meat was great, the side dishes (truffle pasta and parmesan spinach) even greater!"
  • "Absolutely marvelous. Food and services were very good."
  • "The food was fantastic, we went here for a Sunday Roast and ordered the Slow Roast Prim to share and Half Roast Chicken."
  • "Absolutely faultless. Superb service from very smiley and energetic staff. Great menu."

Cons:

  • "It's a shame the restaurant didn't have any fish available (no tuna or sole), so one of the members of our group had to order the cabbage (below expectations)."
  • "Vanilla and salted caramel ice cream - this is where they could improve. It was tasty, but then so is ice cream from a supermarket."
  • "The Tuna steak was the only good thing on the menu food wise."
  • "My partner and I celebrated NYE here and the food was disappointing to say the least. The steak was over cooked and rubbery."
  • "The food was surprisingly amazing and really well priced for such a central location!"
  • "Very mediocre & bland vegetarian Sunday roast."
  • "This place is more about the ambiance than the food quality. I ordered the ribs which seems to be the most popular meat dish and they were dry and over cooked."
  • "We ordered the steak fritte as the main. Wonderful food I have to say. I was a bit hesitant but in the end, it was all great."

Service

Pros:

  • "The service was excellent, very accommodating with allergies."
  • "Other than the food, the best thing about this place was the service."
  • "The young lady at the bar is a great mixologist. I'd go back just for the cocktails."
  • "The staff was very attentive."
  • "A lovely find on the way to the theatre, the pre theatre specials were great value for money and there was a good selection of wines to choose from."
  • "Absolutely amazing place with even more amazing food. Danny gave us a good suggestion about the Dry aged steak burger, and I loved it. He was lovely and very kind."
  • "We arrived half an hour early and, having called ahead that we would be, they were happy to seat us even during a time when the restaurant was visibly busy."
  • "Absolutely delicious. Had the 3 course pre-theatre menu before a show. All three courses were delicious, generous portions washed down with a delightful glass of house wine."

Cons:

  • "The only let down was the service, which was a bit slow. Overall however, it was a very good night out."
  • "Great atmosphere, service could improve and food was ok."
  • "Service was also quite rude from the hostesses, but server was great! The atmosphere on the terrace was nice."
  • "That being the said, the service was decent. They seemed fairly well staffed."
  • "The service was terrible and slow. We had to wait 50minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered, and whenever we were looking for a waiter there was no one around."
  • "The service and food were awful. We reserved a table and it wasn't ready when we arrived, first issue. We had to wait until it was cleared and setup despite making a reservation."
  • "I don’t usually write bad reviews but we had a very bizarre experience at Sophie’s."
  • "The staff seemed distracted and just not paying attention, there seemed to be enough of them around, just all running around like headless chickens. Was odd."
