Family and Pet Friendliness
Pros:
"We regularly visit Leaf and Ground as a family, often taking in a walk through the woodland to do some squirrel spotting, leaf collecting and tree investigating!"
"Immaculate grounds and very relaxing π for a dog walk havenβt been in the cafe and deli ever so canβt comment as I always have the dog with me but itβs a stunning place with lake and views!"
"The only thing that would of made this better would be if the grounds were open to everyone, not just paying customers."
"Fabulous setting for drinks and something to eat. Great children's playground, outside within a mound."
"Lovely place for a picnic, good range of food to choose from. You can eat inside or in the courtyard. Very friendly staff. Lovely walks in the woods and by the lake."
"Really nice modern cafe restaurant with large outdoor patio and courtyard areas for social distancing, option to order for take-away. Great β. Childrens park play area suitable for 3yrs+ with parental guidance and local woodland walk with great views."
"What a wonderful picnic lunch we had on the grounds of the garden centre. It has a lovely deli with local grown and produced food."
"Lovely surroundings, staff very polite. Outside area brilliant when weather is dry but now winter is upon us a facility for outside coffee might be considered, similar to Westonbirt Arboretum where you can sit with your dog."
Cons:
"The only thing that would of made this better would be if the grounds were open to everyone, not just paying customers."
"Service was slow but they were nice and polite enough."
"Completely uncatered for people with babies which is a shame as you would think Mums or dads on maternity leave would be a big chunk of their clientel."
"Service was very slow, generally a pretty disappointing visit."
"Cafe excellent, good quality product & definitely accessible. Am sure we'll be back to sample the yummy goods on offer. Surrounding walking paths are gravel and not suitable for a folding/ collapsible mobility scooter due to the rough, rocky, uneven ground/ terrain."
"Took 15 mins for our drinks order to be taken, another 30 for our food to come."
"First time I went, I had scotch eggs that were delicious, staff were knowledgeable and friendly, so decided to go again, scotch egg was dry as were the pies, nice staff still although not as chatty or knowledgeable this time, gave me wrong selection of food, but still mostly enjoyable."
"There are benches to sit on to enjoy an icecream and you can go for a short walk in the woods and around a small lake. I have 2 critisms, I found there is not much choice on the menu for food but what we did have was very enjoyable."
Quality and Variety of Food
Pros:
"The food served here is so fresh from the garden, they grow their own food."
"Having had our walk, we stopped at the kiosk to get an ice cream. It was great to see that their stockists were local independent businesses!"
"Very expensive take - out coffee and loads of massive cakes & pastries. No healthy breakfast food weekdays. Fabulous gift shop though."
"The deli shop also sells a huge range of groceries."
"Lovely food in a gorgeous setting. As a vegetarian I often struggle to find more than one item on a menu that I want to eat, at Leaf and Ground I had so much choice!"
"The food is fresh and extremely tasty (my lamb kotfe was particularly nice!) and the service is always very friendly."
"Itβs not easy eating out when you have allergies but the young man I spoke to was amazing he looked up every cake so I could choose."
"Although I regularly visit this great place, I think it is worth mentioning how good it really is - especially in the context of the local area, where it stands out clearly."
Cons:
"If you don't make it early, you will be lucky to find any food."
"The staff were perfectly nice but it is very bizarre that you cannot pay for all the products together."
"Went for coffee and cake mid-morning. Poor service but fancy system with paying online did mean we could keep track of everything missing from our order!! Vegan options but extra 45p for alternative milk - ridiculous!!!!"
"The most bizarre point was that whilst they offer this for takeaway there are no facilities to heat this up. We therefore had to have our sausage rolls etc cold."
"Mixed experience at the Leaf and Ground. The food from the lunch menu was expensive but nice."
"Very up market cafe/Deli. Very busy. Advise booking especially on weekends."
"Weβve been wanting to visit for a while now. So we visited. Delicious drinks and cakes. Stunning view and a nice walk around the site. Unfortunately, theyβve switched the EV charge points off, hence 4 stars not 5 stars."
"Good food, but let down by small portions, high prices and a mediocre customer service experience."
Service and Staff Friendliness
Pros:
"The service is always with a smile."
"Itβs not easy eating out when you have allergies but the young man I spoke to was amazing he looked up every cake so I could choose."
"The staff were brilliant - friendly and helpful. Understanding when we all come in the wrong door when it rained."
"Staff were knowledgeable and friendly, so decided to go again, scotch egg was dry as were the pies, nice staff still although not as chatty or knowledgeable this time, gave me wrong selection of food, but still mostly enjoyable."
"Staff do work hard though so it's a big thumbs up. Top place!"
"Used the cafe and deli on Wednesday 4th May, for the quality of produce I was surprised how competitively priced it was with other local shops. In the cafe the coffee was excellent and the piece of almond and pistachio cake was to die for, with great service from the young team there."
"A very new and exciting dining experience recently opened, although not fully just yet, in the Cotswold area of Dursley. The staff are friendly, inviting you in without pressure to which you can enjoy anything from a cuppa to a full breakfast or lunchtime meal."
"Lovely place for lunch. Or just a coffee. Nice plants in the garden centre. Well presented and great play area for the kids. We enjoyed the half price takeaway lunch, from the Eat out to Help out scheme. Was yummy!"
Cons:
"Very slow service at the Leaf and Ground. The food from the lunch menu was expensive but nice. The dining room was super-loud with music, kitchen clattering and children screaming making conversation challenging!"
"We've had a few coffees here, it is lovely but a tad expensive although nice for a treat. The views of the Severn vale are amazing."
"The service for food was very slow and when it did arrive there were a number of problems with the meal."
"Very slow takeaway service! Since the restaurant has put social distancing measures in place, we were told it was full and that we could do takeaway. Many other people were also waiting."
"The service was ok, but our waitress was surly and threw us our salt and pepper!"
"Top quality food, sub par service. The food is beautiful, the wait between seating ordering, having the food brought out and waiting to pay, intolerable."
"Really nice building, setting and views, but not so sure about the Cafe however. We went there for lunch today. Whilst what we had was very nice, there was little choice, and you would quite quickly get bored of the menu if you went there regularly."
"Visited 22.1.22, just for a quick drink, which turned into anything but. The wait for drinks was very lengthy & the price for 2 hot chocolates, which were virtually cold was extortionate."
Ambiance and Setting
Pros:
"The place has a breathtaking view, the scenery is so beautiful, you can't get enough of it, very fresh air."
"This place is now my nearest coffee shop to where I live, so I thought that since it has been open a month I better wander in and take a look."
"Great burgers, coffee and cakes! The grounds have a few lovely walks and a big fort play area for the kids."
"I love it here! The atmosphere, the food, the staff, and the surroundings are all amazing!!"
"First visit for brunch. Clean, efficient with well presented food at reasonable price. Helpful staff. Good location with children's play area and good parking. Deli. and Garden Centre worth a browse. Well worth the visit."
"Great coffee β, lovely deli with delicious local produce, nice garden centre with reasonable pricing, all topped off with a cafe/restaurant and some relaxing walks through the local woodlands."
"Beautiful setting. Outside coffee hut is nice- decent coffee, good selection of cakes."
"Fantastic place, looking forward to coming back. In the summer this place will be so busy as it's got so much space and designed for relaxing."
Cons:
"The staff were perfectly nice but it is very bizarre that you cannot pay for all the products together. If you want cakes you have to pay for them in one room, if you want pastries you have to pay for them at the deli etc."
"Mixed experience at the Leaf and Ground. The food from the lunch menu was expensive but nice. The dining room was super-loud with music, kitchen clattering and children screaming making conversation challenging!"
"Went for coffee and cake mid-morning. Poor service but fancy system with paying online did mean we could keep track of everything missing from our order!! Vegan options but extra 45p for alternative milk - ridiculous!!!!"
"Between the expensive menu and glacially slow drinks service I wouldn't rush back for food- skip the cafe and go for a walk around the grounds."
"When we were seated I was initially concerned that service was going to be slow given they were worried we'd be there more than 90 minutes, however service was very swift and the coffee was great."
"The menu lacked those normal staples, much of it was fancier/ more exotic options that aren't to everyone's taste."
"Service was good. Covid19 restrictions observed..excellent place to have a snack and a Stoll in the wooded area. Very popular"
"A cosy cafe in Dursley received our trade that Leaf and Ground obviously didn't value."
