Exhibits and Displays

Pros:

  • "This is a Museum par excellence. It was well laid out and very informative."
  • "Plenty to look around with a wide variety of airplanes & helicopters in the two hangers - again with good info to tell their story."
  • "Great for military aviation enthusiasts! Lots to see and learn, including some excellent exhibits."
  • "The exhibits are well displayed in dioramas."
  • "Really interesting museum with close up exhibits of aircraft, interactive screens and fun activities for younger children in school holiday periods."
  • "Many planes, helicopters and military vehicles on display, with interactive exhibits and interesting, well-written information boards."
  • "The quality of the aircraft and the detail in the exhibits is amazing."

Cons:

  • "Most of the interactive/technology driven displays were out of order which is such a shame."
  • "Many of the interactive exhibits not fully working or not explained."
  • "It was really good and it gave a lot of information but the quiz for kids was quite hard and it gets quite boring after going back and forwards to find the places."
  • "There wasn't a big choice on the menu in the cafe, and only a choice of ham or cheese sandwiches for the kids meals which they don't tell you on the menu."
  • "The only down side in my opinion is the adult entry charge of £16."
  • "The outdoor playground is pretty good but the indoor activities needed some attention."
  • "There are trip hazards on the edges of displays and then within the displays is a lot of barbed wire and nothing to prevent your child falling into it."

Cafe and Refreshments

Pros:

  • "The cafe has improved massively. It used to be very poor but I would highly recommend it now."
  • "The cafe also looks over the active middle wallop airfield so you can watch the helicopters and planes whilst enjoying your coffee."
  • "The Apache Cafe for a range of light snacks, tasty light meals, clean and tidy, friendly staff."

  • "The cafe is nice, well priced and good view over the airfield."
  • "Good cafe served by friendly and efficient staff."

Cons:

  • "Not offered plate or napkin. Milk jug so low had to struggle to tip up vertically."
  • "I was very disappointed, most of the simulators etc did not work apart from the one you had to pay for."
  • "Avoid the cafe though."
  • "There wasn't a big choice on the menu in the cafe, and only a choice of ham or cheese sandwiches for the kids meals which they don't tell you on the menu."
  • "Rude staff had forgotten to take down the breakfast menu and replace with the lunch one but somehow it was my fault for not knowing!"

  • "The service was unbelievably slow - 15 minutes for one cappuccino."
