Customer Service

Pros:

  • "I would recommend this site for families. Really good service."
  • "Since 2013 I have received excellent service: very good value, helpful assistants and halfprice replacement for frames I accidentally broke myself."
  • "I felt well looked after and although it was very busy the staff managed the amount of people in the store very well."
  • "Today i've come into Specsavers confused on which glasses I should get and have left with a big smile on my face! Eni one of the colleagues has helped me amazingly and I just want to say a thank you!😊"
  • "Happy with experience with specsavers."
  • "The sales assistants also were remarkably patient with my obsessive need to try on about half the frames in the store before making a selection."
  • "The customer service was very efficient and helpful."

Cons:

  • "I've been a customer of Specsavers for at least two decades and so probably spent many Β£1000s on specs. But in the last 3 years or so - predating covid - I've become more & more irritated by the dismissive nature of it's staff."
  • "Very poor service. Told to pick up a pair of glasses a week after eye test but when the day arrived they only had the one pair ready for collection."
  • "Eventually ended up being VERY EXPENSIVE."
  • "Please do not book so many people at the same time if you are not able to accomodate them. I waited 45 minutes to be seen, and many others were also waiting."
  • "Such poor service for no reason."
  • "Very disappointing… very pushy on the sales when I only wanted the eye test."
  • "Completely useless. Over the last 9 months they have sent the wrong lenses three times."

Staff and Management

Pros:

  • "The staff were very professional and really good with children."
  • "The optometrist was very professional, spent a lot of time answering all my questions, had a pleasant sense of humour and was far more thorough than my exponentially more expensive optometrist in the US."
  • "Excellent service from Barry Weadick and staff; lots of minor adjustments made for me to two new pairs of specs."
  • "I was assisted by Maria who was very friendly, professional and polite and helped me to make the right decision when choosing my frames."
  • "The young man who was helping with the door entry - queuing system was very sweet, patient and super professional and the manager went above and beyond for me yesterday - I can not thank them enough."
  • "The staff are generally friendly and helpful."
  • "All staff very helpful."

Cons:

  • "Absolutely horrendous. Extremely unprofessional."
  • "Very disorganised staff."
  • "The staff are amazing very polite but how they operate as a whole is very disorganised, if you have two hours to spare on a busy Saturday or a weekday go for it."
  • "They don't answer their phone."
  • "The customer service is terrible."
  • "Staff obviously need thorough training. Clearly common sense, good customer service and professionalism can't be taught these days."
  • "Shop floor manager (large lady) is extremely rude."

Pricing and Offers

Pros:

  • "Hint for getting the best SpecSavers price: they always offer a 50% discount on the next pair of glasses after you purchase one at full price."
  • "I was told I needed to purchase reading glasses and I received a voucher for 50% off."

Cons:

  • "I eventually ended up paying far more than the advertised 2 for 1 offer initially suggested I would pay."
  • "Found it a bit pricey and the deals are not always what you believe they are."
  • "This branch is run by a bunch of greedy, commission hungry adolescents, who have no idea about customer service let alone Gdpr!"
  • "All about the money ..YOU HAVE TO PAY WHEN ORDERING THE GLASSES."
  • "For the second time in a row the 1st pair broke within a month."
  • "How on earth can I pay over Β£300 for glasses and you gave me glasses without a case."
  • "Specsavers need to be real with their customers. The glasses they show on line is not same as the one shown in the store."

Appointment and Waiting Times

Pros:

  • "The appointment was kept to time."
  • "Very good experience. Timing was perfect, my appointment was at 3:55PM and the person who did my pre test came at exactly that time."

Cons:

  • "Please do not book so many people at the same time if you are not able to accomodate them. I waited 45 minutes to be seen, and many others were also waiting."
  • "Well I arrived early for my appointment which I expected to wait the extra time due to early arrival but I sat there for 40 minutes past my appointment time before I was seen."
  • "Always have to wait over an hour after appointment time to be seen."
  • "I was waiting for 40 minutes just to find out one of the employees did not put my file in the queue for those that need to be seen."
  • "Any time I've had an appointment I've still ended up having to wait between 30 and 45 minutes to be served."
  • "I came in 5 minutes late but then they had me waiting for one whole hour?"
  • "Waiting times are still as long as your arm, and this seems to have been an ongoing issue for many years."
