Community & Staff
Pros:
"Everyone is really friendly because you're all in the same position and the staff are approachable, so if anythings wrong you know you can go to them for help."
"The staff were fantastic all through the year, maintenance were always happy to help there and then, and reception always made a big effort to get to know every student single student which much appreciated as it added to the community feel."
"All of the staff and security team are welcoming and helpful and supportive."
"The sense of community here is absolutely incredible! Everyone talks to anyone, everyone will help you out if you need it and it’s just all round a great place to live!"
"Another great thing about Storthes is how homely it is and the sense of community."
"The staff are all so lovely and will help you with anything you need."
"The staff are very friendly, they are always willing to help and have a chat."
Cons:
"I felt quite left out as I couldn’t make any friends."
"As soon as you have any maintenance issue or flat mate issue management won't really care as you're not simply handing them money it would seem."
"Working evenings and coming back late, I’ve found a particular member of the security team to behave consistently inappropriately."
"Racist establishment, racist company and security guards who like to sling their weight about for the fun of it.... set about me and racially abused me for no reason."
"Living with other people can be tough and arguments can arise."
"DIGS are refusing to give proper updates to their tenants about the COVID-19 situation."
"Not all areas of the car parks have 24 hour CCTV as advertised."
Facilities & Amenities
Pros:
"There's also a study area upstairs linked to the uni which is really useful as the library at uni can get pretty packed exam time!"
"Provide lots of student events throughout the academic year."
"Plenty of amazing facilities around including a games room, gym, a local (and essential) on site shop!!"
"The venue is a great place to make new friends as there are so many different aspects to it, like the games rooms and cinema room."
"It's like a mini student village, which is perfect for first years because it's so easy to socialise and meet new people with the activities they run for free each day."
"The best thing about Storthes Hall Park is the events they run."
"The venue is great too, there is stuff going on every week and the staff take requests for events and films in the cinema room."
Cons:
"Regarding the free gym - most equipment doesn't work / has been broken."
"Venue is terrible - nice food, but you have to wait hours for it even on a quiet day."
"Awful place to live. Water is disgusting. The place is in generally poor condition and I don't think I've had more than a couple proper nights of sleep while staying here."
"There are rats, wasps all over site and the rooms are not good quality at all."
"Just a shame about the mouldy rooms, rats on site and the brown undrinkable water from the taps."
"The gym may have been free, but all the equipment was rusty and squeaked to no end."
"The laundry machines do have a habit of breaking sometimes, however they are ran by an external company and so Digs can’t always fix them as quick as you’d like."

"Storthes is like one big community and you do really make loads of friends who stay with you throughout your uni life."
Cons:
"The whole thing felt like a money making scam."
"The location of the accommodation is in the middle of nowhere and in the forest so no shops nearby."
"My son stayed here last academic year - laundrette facilities: machines eat clothes (!) students are forced to use the ineffective and overpriced driers because clothes airers are banned for health and safety reasons."
"Not a hotel had to walk miles for room shared kitchen bathroom dangerous step nearly broke my toe so would not recommend."
"The setup of the place is very odd, its trying to be multiple things but succeeding at none!"
"Honestly, I hated living there because it was so dirty and there was constant noise from other flats."
"The actual accommodation is ridiculously far out from the Center so walking anywhere isn't gonna happen."
