Quality of Craftsmanship

Pros:

  • "In less than a week he perfectly resoled and made my 8-years old Fratelli Rossetti brogues shiny and new."
  • "High class re-heels. Reconstructed my old boots - as good as new!"
  • "Eric did true tradesman jobs of replacing and restiching the zipper on my leather jacket, when many others had bulked at the idea."
  • "They were so worn out but now are looking newer than ever with soles that say 'we're good to go for another 10 years!'"
  • "The most fantastic cobbler and a well trusted business. I had my Margiela tabi loafers taken in for the bottoms to be resoled, Eric could not have done a more perfect job."
  • "They were masterfully restored to look as if they were brand new."
  • "He rebuilt a new sole, basically redesigning the base to make the soles last a life time!"

Cons:

  • "The first was very expensive and the second, also very expensive, has ruined a pair of Churches."
  • "Literally worst cobbler in london. Asked him to put a layer underneath the shoe, the first time he did it and it came off and the second time he did it a completely different way where it was wobbly."
  • "Poor workmanship on both pairs of shoes that I had re-soled."
  • "He denied it had ever been agreed and charged me the full price saying that he would never have agreed to add the rubber stick-on within that price."
  • "Very rude owner... He took 1 month to fix my shoes (instead of 1 week) and when he finally delivered they didn't fit anymore!"
  • "I would have never thought that I would wait for a repair of a single shoe for so many weeks."
  • "I had the worst experience at this shop! The service was ridiculous and the charge was way too high."

Customer Service

Pros:

  • "Eric personally talked through the best repair options for each pair of shoes."
  • "The chap behind the counter is extremely friendly, and very nice."
  • "Total Professional and very friendly. Absolutely recommend for shoe craftsmanship and repairs and Keys cutting in the London bridge / Bermondsey Area 👌"
  • "The cutest old fashioned cobbler shop with the sweetest and friendliest owner."
  • "The owner is honest and friendly (he even gave me a pen!)."
  • "Henry is a class act - he greeted me warmly as soon as I walked in."
  • "The owner Henry actually listens to what you want and makes you feel like you are a VIP because he devoted his time and attention to your needs."

Cons:

  • "I feel cheated and would not recommend Cobbler's Nest as a result of this experience."
  • "Moreover, I was verbally abused by Eric and pushed out of his shop, when I visited him today."
  • "Do not use this shop unless you like being verbally abused by the owner, who appears to think he is doing you a favour by taking your money, and broken promises about when work will be done."
  • "PLEASE DON'T USE this cobbler!!!!!!!"
  • "The abuse was very weird and included statements such as 'something is wrong with your feet'."
  • "What an absolutely awful experience! No manners, no integrity."
  • "Horrible, rude, unprofessional and upsetting. I agreed to pick my bag up on thursday, and when i returned on Friday the owner was rude, angry and aggressive."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The cost of getting two keys cut was extremely reasonable."
  • "Great service for 1 pair of shoe... but for the other one he did not want to refund £12."
  • "Had some keys cut - great friendly service, in a shop with loads of personality."
  • "A new pair of all leather shoes would be £150 but £40 of repairs means my shoes are good for another 10 years."
  • "Quality work at a reasonable price."
  • "The lovely friendly chap got them sorted really quickly and at a good price too."
  • "The service was exceptional, quick, polite, great finish and a good price."

Cons:

  • "The service was ridiculous and the charge was way too high."
  • "If you want to be overcharged and then overcharged a little bit more when you come to collect as he had to 'do extra work' then this is the shop for you!"
  • "He called me the next day and tried to ask for more money to do additional repair work on the boots."
  • "The owner made a set of keys for me, which took a whopping two hours to do. And to top it off, they were wrongly done."
  • "I returned after 8 days, and the work was not done."
  • "He give you wrong date to collection, when you are there he just said to you to come back later."
  • "If you must use him, ask for a price list, get a commitment that he will deliver on time."

Reliability and Timeliness

Pros:

  • "Dropped off a pair of boots to be re-heeled and resoled, work was completed in less than a week to a great standard."
  • "I always end up leaving there with what I need (shoelaces, polish etc.) and having had a good chat with one of life's optimists."
  • "I really enjoyed my experience in this shop that I found myself smiling and feeling that there are still gems like this (if you know where to look)."
  • "I'd always prefer to support a small business over the giants of timpsons."
  • "I highly recommend. If only I lived in London this would be my cobbler of choice!"
  • "Cobblers nest came to my rescue when I had an emergency on a Saturday in town! Fast, brilliant service!!"
  • "Fantastic repair done on a pair of boots... to an extremely high standard within the hour."

Cons:

  • "He seems to be a nice guy who takes pride in his work, but he is hopelessly unreliable about finishing jobs on time."
  • "When I returned even later than the collection time that was given to me with confidence and assurance, I found that the shoe hadn't even been touched."
  • "Don't go there if you don't want headache!!!... after one week it broke again."
  • "I have just came back from Cobbler's Nest where I left my shoe for a repair about two months ago. The shoe has not been repaired and it actually looks worse than before I left it."
  • "Sticking to the repetitive theme of poor time keeping, not meeting deadlines."
  • "He doesn't always meet his deadlines but the quality of fix is worth the wait."
  • "Unfortunately, he doesn't stick to his own deadlines."
