Quality of Repair Work

Pros:

  • "This place is brilliant and one of the few who can do proper repairs to a high standard at a reasonable price."
  • "These guys completely replaced the soles of my leather vintage boots that used to be my mothers and made them look like new again, whilst retaining their original charm."
  • "The repair was amazing, didn't take too long and so worth the price."
  • "They did an amazing job replacing the chain on my bag, finding me samples of lots of different options beforehand."
  • "The finished work is also exquisite and sturdy, worth the amount paid to ensure a brand new second life for my much beloved pair of shoes."
  • "They patched the uppers back onto the soles, the repair is completely invisible, can't even tell it's there."
  • "The end result was flawless and exactly what I was after."

Cons:

  • "The manager completely botched my shoes, put heels on flat-soled shoes (!) and handed back my watch with the strap still broken."
  • "So-called 'metal flake' bed material they claimed would be incredibly durable lasted about 3 months before wearing down to the sole."
  • "The cobbler then returned my shoes with an inch and a half cut through the silk!"
  • "I ended up having half a black sole, stopping right through the branding and with pen marks...For 45£."
  • "The 'repair' the first time was substandard, then we had to ask them to re-do it."
  • "I was taken aback at the £80 quote... Last month the new sole came away."
  • "They put a black sole on a tan shoe…."

Customer Service

Pros:

  • "I was very pleased with the quick and friendly communication and craftsmanship in repairing my shoes."
  • "When I took the bag in they remembered me and said they could do the cheaper price as there was less work involved than expected which I thought was very honest and nice."
  • "I recommend this place to everyone, double thumbs up!!"
  • "I always get my shoes here and have a warm welcome, even when one of my heels fell out days after being fixed and fixed with no charge."
  • "Faultless experience from beginning to end."
  • "I was blown away by the customer service he provided me (not even a paying customer yet!) and highly recommend his service!"
  • "The manager kept in touch with me letting me know where he was at with the process."

Cons:

  • "Please save your shoes, don’t take them here!"
  • "However I never received a text or a call telling me to pick up my leather boot."
  • "Travelled 1 & 1/2 hours to bring sentimental items for repair having called at lunch time to confirm what time you closed (6pm). When I arrived at 5.25pm you were fully closed up."
  • "We were treated as if we were talking another language, told we were talking rubbish and told that we were lying about the condition of the shoes prior to the work."
  • "Unprofessional communication. I went in to enquire a price for my leather belt to be replaced."
  • "The manager was unbelievable, so unwilling to accept he made a mistake he actually called me at work and was verbally abusive!"
  • "They made me feel so uncomfortable that I left the shop and cried all the way home."

Price and Value

Pros:

  • "Did not disappoint, speedy repair for 25 bucks, which is a fair price compared to other shoe repair services I’ve tried."
  • "Top quality work at a fair price."
  • "The value was beyond fair and Nick said that if any point the repair was not going to be finished in time or if he was unable to complete them for any reason he offered a complete refund as well as guarantee."
  • "Pricing was reasonable."
  • "They quoted me £45 (significantly cheaper than anywhere else)."
  • "The price was very reasonable, and their attention to detail was well worth the trip out here."
  • "Then to add to the smile the price was very good, I thought it would cost a lot more."

Cons:

  • "For my next pair I ended up going to another shoe repair store further away but who can do the same thing for 15£ and with a tonal sole!"
  • "I was quoted £140 for a new outsole and midsole which seemed steep at the time."
  • "Not a cheap place but for getting your designer shoes to look new again it’s well worth it."
  • "I realise now they are a bit expensive, compared to other repair shops, however, for the location and their impeccable service, I’d say it was definitely worth it."
  • "The price was high; but with good reason – about 30% higher than other prices I’d been given locally, the quality of the work was 100% better than any repairs the boots have had in the four years since they were made."
  • "Another time they also requested an extra 20£ to do that same repair in under 2 weeks as they were very busy."
  • "It took a few weeks and north of £100, but it was top notch work."
