Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Nice mall/shopping center wide corridors lots of options for getting between different levels stairs ramps escalators and lifts so good accessibility till you get into stores at least."
  • "Cardiff's shopping precinct is so centralised, you can travel from one end of the general shopping area to the other and remain extremely dry."
  • "Facilities include, disabled access, escalators, lifts and stairs. Accessible male, female, baby changing and disabled toilets."
  • "Wheelchair friendly."
  • "With many different wheelchair friendly entry points into Queen Street, The Hays, and Working Street, one can access the Mall easily."
  • "Disability accessible entrance, parking, toilets and lifts available."
  • "There are lifts to the upper floor and there are spacious baby changing room and feeding ones. There are family bathrooms as well."

Cons:

  • "Not great for floor plans/maps so you will waste time wandering around as everything is in different directions."
  • "The lifts can be very busy, maybe a better system of organising traffic up and down would be useful like in some hospitals."
  • "The lifts to the centre and parking were extremely slow and you could be waiting upwards of 5 minutes for the lift."
  • "Not enough lifts and lots of vendors mid corridor blocking the way when busy (some with pushy upselling)."
  • "The only downside is the lifts are always busy, because no one knows where the stairs to the car parks are!"
  • "Only complaint is the lifts to and from the car park, especially with prams, it’s not efficient for families and you will be waiting a long time during busy hours."
  • "Can be frustrating for people with disabilities."

Shopping Experience

Pros:

  • "In my opinion Cardiff City Centre offers one of the best shopping experiences in Wales."
  • "This is a great shopping centre with an excellent choice of shops and places to eat."
  • "Literally everything for your shopping needs under 1 beautifully decorated roof."
  • "Very modern, spacious and clean shopping centre, which houses many major brands of shops as well as restaurants too."
  • "Full of great shops, cafes, restaurants, Gaming, clothes, jewelry, and a whole lot more."
  • "Loads of great shops all indoors. Done a great job of trying to put a lane system in for keeping social distancing."
  • "Clean shopping mall with a variety of shops that range from designer to affordable shops like primark."

Cons:

  • "The only downside is there are too many tacky, tasteless and tedious bars, pubs, clubs and cheap eateries offering all sorts of nonsense everywhere you look."
  • "Seems a shame many of the original shops are now closed."
  • "Very nice but seems to have lost it's way. Products on sale are all available elsewhere online."
  • "The centre doesn't really have anything new but has lost some of its older stores that I found beneficial."
  • "Went into the mall for zara and Nandos and the experience was horrible at both places."
  • "Since lockdown the place has become very empty especially since Debenhams closed."
  • "More shops closing."

Parking

Pros:

  • "The parking is very good but rather expensive. £2 for a single hour where you often get the first hour or so free."
  • "There Is parking available, plus a cinema and an adventure golf."
  • "Great shopping centre, convenient parking facilities."
  • "Conveniently placed in the city, with its own parking and close to the train station."
  • "Parking isn’t too bad more pricey on a Saturday but on a Sunday you can park for less than £5 in John Lewis car park."
  • "Plenty of parking available in the capital shopping centre catering for family spaces as well as disabled spaces."
  • "Parking is convenient, well laid out and cheap for Cardiff."

Cons:

  • "It's a manic mall, and trying to find parking seems like a race for some people."
  • "The mens toilets were truly disgusting 🤢 positively heave inducing."
  • "If you're looking to visit a shopping centre where nobody abides by the unwritten rule of walking on the left and are blindly meandering about willy nilly, with total disregard for your time and patience, this is the shopping centre for you."
  • "Took two hours to get out of the car park. Additionally never been to a shopping centre that has such terrible lifts for the car parks."
  • "Parking can be a nightmare and the lack of lifts mean you can be waiting for a long time to get back to your car."
  • "Great, large shopping centre in the heart of Cardiff let down drastically by its parking, or more specifically the lifts to the parking."
  • "Payment machines stopped working on the top floors. Long delays over an hour trying to get out of the car park as motorists reaching the barriers without paying were having to leave their vehicles and find a working pay machine."

Facilities

Pros:

  • "Clean walkways, plenty of toilet facilities."
  • "Very good selection of shops and restaurants."
  • "The restraunts are everywhere and under cover so rain wont stop you enjoying your food."
  • "Clean, large, and offers a great range of services and shops for all your needs."
  • "Comfortable & clean shopping mall. Well maintained toilets."
  • "The public toilets are very clean."
  • "The ladies toilets appear clean, there is a lot of water on the floor which could be dangerous."

Cons:

  • "It's a typical shopping centre, packed,as it was raining outside, unfortunately on this day, some of the toilets were closed, due to unsociable behaviour."
  • "It's nice they put on some small attraction during school hols but the toilets need a refresh badly as there is always some issue or another."
  • "Nice shopping centre. If you want to leave when busy I advice you walk up the stairs to the parking area."
  • "Only criticism is the lack of EV charging places, especially when only half of them are working."
  • "Can be frustrating for people with disabilities."
  • "There are a lot of shops, but not so many food outlets, those that are in the centre had queues, so if you want to eat there you may have to get there early."
  • "It is a shopping centre... I would have given it more start but the only toilets are the very far end where the restaurants are, the ones closer to Queen street tend to be closed which is highly annoying."
