Theatre Ambience

Pros:

  • "This Theatre is absolutely stunning and all of the workers are super nice and friendly."
  • "Lovely little theatre which is deceptively big with a very tiny bar space but actually enough loos for once!"
  • "Beautiful theatre, in London’s theatre district easily reach by tube, train and bus."
  • "The Noel Coward Theatre is a beautiful piece of architecture inside and out."
  • "The theatre is a stunning four-story building that is full of character and charm."
  • "Delightful to be immersed in a beautiful old fashioned London theatre."
  • "A lovely old theatre with incredibly comfortable seating."

Cons:

  • "Worn out tired theatre with rude staff."
  • "But as usual the toilets are in small numbers and the bar overcrowded."
  • "Although our seats were pretty pointless, we could only see half of the stage even leaning over the edge did little to help."
  • "It can be quite congested in the stalls area, especially around the bathrooms as they are in the back corners of the theatre."
  • "The whole theatre seems a bit cramped; toilets, gangways and bars."
  • "But unfortunately the current times and cash strapped people, meant about 3/4 of the theatre was empty, which meant the ambience was poor."
  • "Old, beautiful theatre in the heart of Leicester Square."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "Staff were courteous and polite, whilst keeping everything moving."
  • "Staff helpful, what more could you want?!"
  • "All staff were super friendly, welcoming and helpful."
  • "The staff, all of them, are so attentive and their smiles are spontaneous."
  • "The staff are EXCELLENT! Friendly and accommodating are a understatement!"
  • "Staff were friendly and helpful throughout, both when serving at the bar or answering questions."
  • "The staff members were friendly and accommodating, offering me water and a chance to cool down after rushing from work."

Cons:

  • "The toilet facilities are also shocking and the 'bar' area is poor."
  • "The security staff give this place the feel of rough old nightclub I'm not entirely sure what they expect in a theatre."
  • "After the show I became separated from my friends, one of whom was looking after my phone. The staff were completely unhelpful and washed their hands of me."
  • "Security in the queue felt intimidating."
  • "Very convoluted entry into this theatre. Made to feel like a criminal when you enter."
  • "I was massively disappointed by the service I received as a wheelchair user."
  • "Unfortunately, there was a group of people watching the show I saw and they talked so much during the first act it was very distracting."

Seating and Comfort

Pros:

  • "The seats for the audience were not very comfortable, as my back got quite numb during the show."
  • "Seats had good legroom but seemed a bit narrow compared to the Gillian Lynne."
  • "View of the stage is excellent from the stalls or the balcony."
  • "Seats were very comfortable (we were sat in the grand circle). They are slightly curved so fit your back well and there was sufficient leg room, unlike some theatres."
  • "Plush seats with really generous leg room (front stalls row Q)."
  • "We were situated in the Royal Circle A1 and A2. Great value sits with excellent legroom."
  • "Seats were good value in the stalls with an excellent view, comfortable with more leg room than most other theatres."

Cons:

  • "Seats are old, small and uncomfortable."
  • "The seats are not the most comfortable if you are sitting for a long time."
  • "The only downer are the seats are small and really uncomfortable :(... The old fashioned cinema style seats and not much room or padding to spend an evening parked in..."
  • "Bit crowded and the seats aren’t comfortable at all with not a lot of leg room. Toilets are also cramped (1 cubicle in the mens)."
  • "Seats are not uncomfortable but not the most comfortable either and pretty filthy."
  • "Seating is so uncomfortable and desperately needs replacing."
  • "The seats are not up to modern theatre standards being a little hard and close together but still okay."

Performance and Shows

Pros:

  • "What a fabulous show to welcome us back, it blew us away."
  • "The show itself was fantastic, I’d highly recommend it to anyone but especially families with young adult children."
  • "The play itself was incredible, with the sound, picture effects and especially acting being magnificent."
  • "I saw the ocean at the end of the lane and it was very entertaining."
  • "Dear Evan Hansen was a beautiful show with such an incredible cast with Marcus Harman being outstanding as the titular character."
  • "The Great British Bake Off the Musical was entertaining with great performances."
  • "We saw The Great British Bake Off - The Musical in this lovely little theatre in St Martin's Lane in London's West End. Great fun show with excellent original music."

Cons:

  • "The sound system was a bit loud for some parts and seemed to have trouble with actors' voices in some scenes."
  • "The weakest in the cast, in my opinion, was Lucy Anderson (who played Zoe Murphy, Connors sister) - a rather wooden performance and a very irritating and often out of key singing voice."
  • "No mics on 4 member cast either and very difficult or to hear 14 rows back."
  • "Wow...Evan Hanson is a brilliant example of how something that is at best mediocre can in a world of not very good become brilliant. Story zero Characters Meh Message empty and ubiquitous."
  • "I thought the songs were great on the whole, but the story is a bit of a mess, frankly."
  • "Avoid if you can especially if the show is touring."
  • "If you're sitting behind a person even remotely tall, you weren't seeing anything the whole show."
