Theatre Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "The theatre itself is cozy and intimate, which made for a great atmosphere."
  • "An amazing little theatre in the heart of London."
  • "Classic West end theatre."
  • "One of the smaller theatres in London, cosy and intimate interior."
  • "Great theatre, small and personal."
  • "A superb small theatre."
  • "The atmosphere was brilliant and the show is amazing."

Cons:

  • "The play was good but wow it was hot in there."
  • "The theatre itself was warm inside, a bar that is a bit pricey."
  • "The Dutchess is charming, tight and hot in the summer."
  • "The setting area is a bit cramped, the toilets well need a little TLC and there was no fans or Air Conditioning considering that it has been very warm lately."
  • "The entry space is very small and not enough space to stand inside."
  • "Leaving the theater takes some time I hope they never have an emergency as it seemed to slow for an evacuation."
  • "The theatre is centrally located in the London city. Easy to access via train, bus and cabs."

Seating and View

Pros:

  • "Nearly every seat and an excellent view of the stage, despite being a full house there wasn't a problem getting drinks from the bar."
  • "Good view from all seats."
  • "Seats were good with spacious leg room."
  • "The seats are steeply raked so you get a great view of the stage with not heads in the way."
  • "The seats, while a bit close together, were surprisingly comfortable."
  • "Lovely intimate theatre, last minute seats were great for the price and did not interfere with our enjoyment of the show."
  • "Nice little theatre with good views of the stage from all seats."

Cons:

  • "For someone that is short, even though the seats are elevated above the row in front of you, if someone leans forward too far, it obstructs your view."
  • "The chairs for example are old, tight, very close by each other, and have no cupholders."
  • "Small theatre with limited sightlines to the sides."
  • "The seats are tiny and very precarious."
  • "The only criticisms I have is that the seats are not sloped enough to avoid your view being impaired by the tall person that often sits in front of you."
  • "If you want a full view of the whole stage, avoid seats on the outside aisles as stage left or right, as they are obscured, and actors will be out of your sight if they venture there."
  • "The seats are uncomfortable for people who have long legs."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "Staff very attentive. Dealt with audience member who was using her phone during the performance very well."
  • "Excellent staff, so friendly and helpful."
  • "The theatre was immaculate and the staff were very helpful and accommodating."
  • "Characters very likable and interactive, fantastic humour and brilliant set."
  • "The theater staff were very patient and kind, the building itself was well laid out with good access to facilities and the bar."
  • "All the personnel were friendly and welcoming, they are the major assets of these old, sometimes crumbling venues."
  • "The staff were amazing."

Cons:

  • "We had water confiscated from our bags and were not allowed to take anything in inc. Snacks."
  • "Sadly we had an over entitled posh girl who didn’t believe that 'no pictures or mobile phones' referred to her."
  • "Bar staff refused to give bottle of Bottega."
  • "Overall was good. It was very confusing where to buy the 'The Play That Goes Wrong' Merchandise."
  • "Usher was very blunt and grumpy however."
  • "Once we arrived although the play hadn’t started and the tickets weren't sold out they said they wouldn’t sell us the tickets."
  • "Terrible customer service and huge lack of respect."

  • "The Play That Goes Wrong was hilarious! Would recommend sitting centrally to make sure you don't miss any of the jokes."

Cons:

  • "We went to see the play after reading some good reviews online, but we were massively disappointed! It was arguably the worst production I have ever seen!"
  • "Interesting show. The play that goes wrong. Quite funny, but the comedy is a bit low IQ."
  • "Small cosy theatre, decent venue however we went to see 'The Play that goes wrong' which I definitely wouldn't recommend, waste of money and not funny at all."
  • "This play is perfect for someone with kids of age of 2-3, who are likely to laugh at extremely simplistic stuff; but I fail to understand how can anyone with a university degree could enjoy it!"
  • "The entire experience was distasteful and unpleasant and completely unacceptable in every way."
  • "I'm astounded that people actually stayed for the second part."
  • "The Play That Goes Wrong is absolutely rubbish."
