Customer Service
Pros:
"All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable."
"Staff were helpful."
"The staff were incredible when I rang to say what I had done and see if we could go any other day."
"Staff on main till on way out were really helpful .. thank you for helping me with a box for my grandchildren's plants."
"Staff members are all very helpful whether you want plants, or bird food or Christmas decorations."
"The staff were also very helpful."
"Staff very friendly and helpful."
Cons:
"Complete blank expression and just 19.99 no please or thank you or even a smile soooooo rude."
"The girl who served us (11,09,23) was grumpy and sarcastic should not be serving people."
"Very abrupt and rude member of your staff I believe she is in charge of the restaurant and cafe area."
"The only thing that spoiled it was the woman on the till in the works department. All I can say is she was not very nice."
"Young girl on till not so nice, when serving just carried on chatting to her work colleague on the other till, never looked at me or said thank you just threw my packets of seeds on counter never got a thank you or nothing!"
"The cafe on the other hand was awful and the girl who served me was rude… challenging what my problem was when I order a cappuccino for £3.40 and complained that all I had been given by her was half a cup of coffee."
"Today was disappointed in one of the staff members on the checkout, the member of staff was working on the last checkout (opposite the candle section). Very rude not pleasant at all!"
Facilities & Layout
Pros:
"Fantastic! I went with my 5 month old daughter to see the Christmas displays. Lots of room for a pram, clean decent Changing facilities and lots of other children."
"It's a fabulous, massive garden centre with an aquatic section with cold water, tropical & marine fish as well as tanks and support equipment."
"The centre has a mesh WiFi system across the whole site."
"Wheelchair access is very good throughout the whole site."
"The Hornsea Garden Centre also accommodates for children, with a massive selection of toys, small play corner for whilst you're visiting the cafe and now has a brilliant outdoor play area."
"Accessibility for all with free wheelchairs if required."
"Accessibility - good and they will carry items and load them in your car."
Cons:
"Lots to choose from but a bit haphazard in layout."
"So large and sprawling, was impossible to find our way around."
"A large area inside had been sacrificed of stock to spread out tables for the restaurant."
"The tables were spread out into retail areas with showers passing by and through between the tables."
"Only criticism is the lack of space between stands in most indoor areas so wheelchairs can't get through."
"The toilet for disabled is down a slope and positioned so you cannot open the door if you are in a wheelchair."
"The only downside I found was it's too confusing to find your way around."
Food & Dining
Pros:
"Visited this lovely place today for Afternoon Tea. The food was delicious, very plentiful and beautifully presented as always."
"A nice cafe, nice food reasonably priced."
"Went on a trip. Had a Christmas dinner and as there was a lot of us the staff were brilliant and served all the food. It was all hot and tasty."
"This place has always been blessed with knowledgeable owners & staff."
"Visited the restaurant and had a carvery, of which the meat was tender and the veg well cooked."
"Always amazing food too...thank you. My family and I had a lovely afternoon."
"Great place to visit, large cafe with good food and great veggie options also cater well to larger groups with little kids and dogs, nice to eat outside as well."
Cons:
"We were expecting a quality carvery meal as we have had previously but standards have dropped drastically over the last couple of years."
"Coffee had to go back because it was barely warm."
"Been a regular visitor to cafe and always been happy. Had a visit today and very disappointed. How they can warranty £7 odd for a sandwich is disgusting the bread was hard and salad consisted of a handful of mix leaves."
"The cakes and sweets are extortionate so this is why I have only given 3 star because I thought this was not fair on parents as children mostly ask for a slice of cake or something sweet."
"The set up in the restaurant is very military .... one member of staff was extremely bossy and snappy."
"Went for a carvery, admittedly, we were later than usual... there was no choice besides a few overcooked pieces of beef and a small chicken breast."
"Very disappointed. Ordered food at 11:30 which eventually arrived just after 12. Meals inedible as they were stone cold so that was a waste of £40."
Value for Money
Pros:
"Prices mostly pretty good, but certain items expensive."
"Some things a bit pricey but well worth visiting."
"It was well worth travelling from Sheffield. It was the best Christmas display I have ever seen. Prices were very reasonable and lots to choose from. It was absolutely amazing."
"They do have a very good selection of hard landscaping, and we bought stepping stones at a reasonable price."
"Food/Carvery. As far as carveries go, this is very good for at excellent value."
"Plenty of parking."
"Good choice of food at reasonable prices and good quality."
Cons:
"Prices are a bit on the high side."
"Visited the cafe for coffee and cake. Very expensive considering the quality provided."
"The price are stupidly high for the quality!!!"
"The garden centres in York charge a ridiculous price. This centre in Hornsea had everything! It is huge!"
"Most stock at least 30% higher than anywhere else within a 15mile radius."
"Stock in the shop was expensive, dusty, and looked like it had been there for years."
"Found this place on the pricey side, depending on what you want to buy."
