Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Fantastic restaurant with excellent food well cooked and elegantly presented with none of the over the top fripperies you often get in Michellin stars restaurants."
  • "The yuzu made meringue was not too sweet, a bit sour balance the sweetness and was more fresh."
  • "Desserts were impressive in these nine courses."
  • "Amazing tasting menu. Every dish was exquisite and delicious."
  • "Every course was an education on flavour pairing."
  • "Food was imaginatively prepared from fresh ingredients - well deserved Michelin star."
  • "Each dish was an explosion of amazing tastes. I feel I have been ruined for anything less."

Cons:

  • "The courses were excellent apart from one dish morello mushrooms which wasn't as good as had gone before."
  • "Food was way too salty most dishes."
  • "Certain dishes lacked taste."
  • "The food was very basic and bland the young chefs coming out to serve the dishes were scruffy the aprons were not ironed or clean it just didn't look or feel like a michelin restaurant."
  • "The food was bland and lacked heart. The only course which we would classify as “adequate” was the spelt (primarily due to the truffle) and the chocolate dessert. Everything else we ate was uniformly mediocre and lifeless."
  • "Scallop beautiful and fresh but the granite over powers the whole dish and you lose all other flavours of the dish."
  • "The menu clearly wasn't actually taste tested and they just threw truffle and caviar on top of dishes in order to make them seem 'high-class' or 'luxury'."

Service Experience

Pros:

  • "Service is very professional."
  • "The waiting staff bring over the wine and tell you all about it. Different chefs come out and tell you where the food has been sourced and answer any questions you might have."
  • "Really classy decor and the floor manager is a friendly attentive character."
  • "Service was first class and waiters and waitresses were very attentive and friendly."
  • "The service was second to none; the team were perfectly attentive, knowledgeable and engaging."
  • "Service is friendly and professional."
  • "The staff were friendly and attentive."

Cons:

  • "When brought up this to the waiter he simply took it away and ignore the issue with no apology."
  • "We were were befuddled why the service was so neglectful, negligent, dismissive and I would even say arrogant!"
  • "It's absolutely fair to say that while the food was fantastic the service was abysmal and overshadowed any redeeming qualities about the venue."
  • "The server tried to impose additional tips on us after the meal — there is plenty of room for improvement, especially given the star price with no star in hand."
  • "Service was efficient and pleasant although a bit robotic at times."
  • "Once we’d finished eating we suddenly became invisible for 20 minutes and were completely ignored by the waiting staff."
  • "The most disappointing part was the service."

Atmosphere & Decor

Pros:

  • "A very beautiful environment and delicious."
  • "Lovely atmosphere and mouthwatering food."
  • "Ambience was relaxed, staff attentive."
  • "The whole place has a great atmosphere."
  • "It was a birthday treat and if you tell them beforehand they bring you out some chocolates with Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate."
  • "Great place if you’re looking for something a bit more fancy."
  • "I also loved having a pre dinner drink in the beautiful walled garden, listening to the sound of the doves."

Cons:

  • "Location/ entrance of the place is not great either, down in the basement, not very posh at all."
  • "The environment was fairly basic, nothing special."
  • "The atmosphere in the restaurant was very awkward."
  • "I personally found that the restaurant decor and environment let things down slightly - it was pretty cold and clinical which didn’t make the meal feel overly special."
  • "The dining room is grey, with velvet curtains - inoffensive but uninspiring."
  • "It doesn’t have a great atmosphere until then."
  • "Be prepared to leave with a somewhat still empty stomach and an empty wallet."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "I can't recommend it enough, your money is well spent here and you will be treated so well."
  • "Wine are also reasonably priced."
  • "I chose the 6 course menu which is great value for money and was delicious."
  • "Prices fair for the experience."
  • "The pricing was very reasonable compared to similar experiences."
  • "You sense this restaurant is destined for big things. Very accomplished menu. Superb service - epitomised by a wine recommendation that was obscure but more value than the obvious famous alternatives and every bit as good."
  • "It was amazing what could be made out of a vegetarian menu. Delicious squash, spelt, ravioli and a delicious raspberry desert."

Cons:

  • "We feel like we wasted a night and £450."
  • "It's absolutely fair to say that while the food was fantastic the service was abysmal and overshadowed any redeeming qualities about the venue."
  • "Overall, a wannabe fine dining place with a long way to go but a good base to start with. Currently not worth the price."
  • "Considering the pricing is very steep, the taste didn‘t ‚wow’ me and the portions were very small."
  • "Is it worth the price - that I am not so sure of, very small portions which I know is expected, but the portions don't have that wow factor that can really justify the price point!"
  • "For a meal which was £155 per head for the meal plus drinks, I think the level of service was not what it should have been."
  • "It’s way overpriced for an unpleasant evening."
