Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The food was fantastic! It is fine dining so a little more pricey than some places but you get quality for the money."

  • "Superb starter just the right size and then an absolutely amazing sharing platter for the roasts."
  • "The roast beef was superb as was dessert."
  • "Delicious food, excellent wines, superbly kept beers/ciders and great staff."
  • "The food was excellent from starter to dessert."
  • "The food is both innovative and delicious."

Cons:

  • "Great atmosphere but very overpriced as our steak had more gristle than edible meat."
  • "One of the meals (monkfish) came rather sparse, vegetables to be ordered as a side, odd."
  • "The food however seemed to be a bit style over substance, not bad but some dishes were overpriced and quite frankly tiny."
  • "Our enjoyment of the meal was somewhat spoiled by the meal being served on almost cold plates."
  • "The only dish to miss the mark was the rib eye, not enough sear to give any flavour and a little overcooked."
  • "Food is way too expensive, all fancy presentation but lacks the standard."
  • "The beef was chewy, veg warm, Yorkshire pudding really hard."

Service

  • "The waitress was really friendly and the service excellent."
  • "Staff have a warm and welcoming manner."
  • "Amazing customer service."
  • "The staff were friendly, attentive and extremely professional."
  • "Service was also flawless and nothing too much trouble."

Cons:

  • "The only fault I could find during our visit for a 3 hour romantic anniversary dinner was that the candle on our table burned out and wasn't replaced!"
  • "Long waits between courses, we had to ask a member of staff for a dessert menu, and then after another long wait had to ask a member of staff to take our order."
  • "There was a definite shortage of staff which meant we had to wait some time for our order to be placed."
  • "When the plate was collected, no one queried the fact it was largely untouched."
  • "Was informed on arrival that there was only one 10oz steak and only one Monkfish left. At 8 o'clock on a Friday evening that's poor."
  • "The waitress dropped the tomatoes on my lap."
  • "A noisy table of six took the edge off our visit."

Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Cosy and welcoming interior."
  • "Beautiful restaurant with a warm and cosy vibe for this time of year."

Cons:

  • "It does not give cosy country pub vibes, however it is nicely decorated and appeals to a more cosmopolitan clientele."
  • "All a bit kitsch for my personal liking."
  • "Take care where you sit as close to the service area / bar is not the quietest area."

Value for Money
