Venue Layout

Pros:

  • "The building itself is pretty great, enough toilets, easy access to bars, and the sloped floor is great."
  • "Loved the sloped floor here as even though we made it to the front I would have been able to see at the back as a short person."
  • "The large auditorium has a downstairs standing area with a floor sloping towards the stage to allow for most people to get a great view."
  • "Fantastic venue, sloped stage is a great thing when listening to a live band or DJ."
  • "The sloping floor was excellent for short people like me, can definitely see the whole stage."
  • "The floor is slanted so at 4'11 this is the first gig EVER where I have been able to view the front whilst not having to queue for hours to get the barrier."
  • "The wonderful sloping floor ensures you will see the act rather than spending all night peeking through the odd gap appearing between a mass of heads and shoulders."

Cons:

  • "The floor slopes, which can make standing a bit uncomfortable."
  • "Downside is, it does make your ankles and feet sore standing on a slight angle for that long."
  • "The standing slopes downwards so makes it easy to see the performance and you don't get obscured by tall people."
  • "The floor is slopped so that all the people standing can still see."
  • "The tilted floor that allows a good view from wherever you are standing."
  • "The sloped floor makes for excellent sightlines everywhere."
  • "The fact the floor is sloped makes it such an ideal event so there is none of the 'I can't see' problem!"

Sound Quality

Pros:

  • "Sound quality is nice and loud, well distributed."
  • "Sound, Lighting and atmosphere was good."

  • "Sound quality was very good."
  • "Sound was very good."
  • "Sound quality was great also."

Cons:

  • "I give two stars because this is the second time I have been and the sound quality is below poor."
  • "The sound is a little less than excellent these days, the staff are more rude."
  • "Unfortunately the sound quality wasn’t good, and it was extremely cold inside."
  • "Thought the acoustics could have been better as it sounded distorted at times."
  • "The only downside is the sound. It’s a bit muddy."
  • "The last gig I attended had bad sound. Vocals were drowned out by bass. Lots of echo too."
  • "However one star bumped off as the last time I went the sound guys were awful at mixing the audio - bass coming through far too strong and vocalist microphones too quiet to hear."

Staff and Security

Pros:

  • "Everyone seemed friendly and helpful including providing free tap water from the bar."
  • "Staff were so helpful and friendly at Brixton!"
  • "The staff were friendly, especially during the line up to the concert."

  • "All the staff are SO considerate, I felt very safe and looked after."
  • "Everyone from the folks working the doors to those covering the bar are really friendly and helpful."
  • "The security team are really professional, queue management and checking bags are almost quick."

Cons:

  • "You had security staff present who felt the need to shout at all of us for no reason."
  • "Staff were incredibly rude, unclear and disorganised when handling the queues."
  • "However, one of the security who was managing the line was very rude to some of the people."
  • "The staff performing them were rude. I have never encountered such an invasive search of my personal effects in my life."
  • "Staff blatantly lied to those waiting for their favourite artist and contradicted each other repeatedly."
  • "When people started to pass out from the heat, staff did nothing."
  • "Security didn't even check everyone's tickets, some people without tickets even paid them cash-in-hand to be let in."

Facilities and Amenities

Pros:

  • "Didn't have to wait long in the bar queue. No queue for toilets either."
  • "They had loads of toilets as well so didn’t have to queue forever for the ladies."

  • "Multiple bars inside and a merchandise stall too."
  • "Pleanty of bars so you never have to wait long for a drink."
  • "Bars are scattered throughout the venue and the loos are usually nice and clean."
  • "The venue bar staff are very efficient and always friendly."

Cons:

  • "The only downside would be the girls toilets they can get pretty scrummy and the queues are out the door."
  • "Was little disappointed by the toilet facilities they were messy, most soap dispensers didn't have soap and the hand driers didn't work."
  • "There is always a huge queue for the ladies bathroom."
  • "Bathrooms can get a bit messy with bigger crowds though."
  • "Beer isn’t great but I wouldn’t bother with drinks once here to be honest the queue is usually pretty long."
  • "Bags are now banned, so they're running what seems to be a con where you have to pay £10 to leave your bag in a nearby restaurant."
  • "Leaving bags in a local kebab shop is ridiculous."
