Market Atmosphere
Pros:
"Friendly atmosphere and pleasant stall holders who seem happy to help."
"Loved looking round the Pannier market....again everyone warm and friendly..lots of lovely things to see and buy."
"This market is the best, amazing. They have everything and a great atmosphere."
"Atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the sellers always have good knowledge."
"There's something quite nostalgic and heart-warming about Tavistock Market."
"The traders are so friendly and they'll always direct you if you're look for something particular."
"Lovely atmosphere."
Cons:
"Very disappointing. All the stalls uninspiring. Very tired, expensive and dated."
"Extraordinarily rude 'East End Café' serving bog standard breakfast with a threat on the menu that theyll chin you if you dont say please and thank you."
"Also not friendly key cutter, a smile costs nothing."
"We were disappointed by this market as we think it advertised it as a 'Christmas Market' and that's why we went to Tavistock but it wasn't. Lots of repetitive stalls, a bit of a classic mishmash market of old toy cars, books, kitchen roll, artists and knitwear."
Stall Variety
Pros:
"Different stalls on different days I believe but any day is interesting."
"Lots of individual stalls selling all their different goods from clothing, bric -a-brac, pet food and accessories, plants and gardening bits, jewellery."
"Delightful market with large number of stalls selling various items from clothing to toys. Many of the stalls specialised in selling local goods or featured local crafts."
"Probably the most diverse range of goods for sale in any Town in the UK."
"A great mix of stalls from books to jewellery to leather goods. There is a cafe as well. It is located in Central Tavistock so easy to get to."
"The market is a mix of everything. Quite interesting antique items."
"Great range of stallholders in the market. Something for everyone."
Cons:
"A lovely little artisan(ish) market, but only about 1/3 of the stalls were genuine... sadly the rest were selling disguised mass produced, imported goods."
"Lovely to look around but silly that some stalls don't use card readers."
"SO busy! We went on a Saturday and couldn't even park."
"If you are from the North of England where markets are really big you will be disappointed."
Accessibility
Pros:
"Clean free toilets. What a great treat (less able friendly as well)."
"The central market hall has recently received a modern facelift, with automatic sliding doors to facilitate easy disabled access."
"Dog friendly and wheelchair accessible."
"Wheelchair accessible with some automatic doors and accessible toilets."
"It is accessible with well maintained toilets."
Cons:
"Unfortunately not all doors are automatic so if crutches or wheelchair users, you have to look around for automatic doors as there are no signs to say where they are until you get to them."
"Parking is a bit scarce. We parked at 1£ 1 hr max paid parking near the market."
"Beware the Parking in front of the market. It's very short stay only. Even for disabled. Everyone pays."
Food and Dining
Pros:
"Good food at Dukes cafe as well."
"If you want a quick bite don't miss Bob's East End Cafe... whilst there do yourself a favour and order the gourmet burger."
"Liked the food shops, great cheese store there."
"The bacon and egg roll was great."
"Try the locally made pasties and relax for a coffee after your wander through the fascinating array of products."
"We ate in the cafe just outside the market and it was very good."
"Dukes is lovely for a cuppa and a tasty scone or two."
Cons:
"Downside the lukewarm hot drinks with very dry chips Even had to clean the end of the table before we sat down."
