Animal Encounters and Exhibits

Pros:

  • "The zoo was very clean and kept well and the layout and enclosures made animals easy to see while still giving them plenty of room."
  • "The animals all looked to have interesting enclosures and we saw pretty much all of them even though they had numerous places to hide away."
  • "Great zoo, smaller than ZSL but had more of a family vibe. Lovely to see how big the enclosures are now and how they are continuing to expand including their conservation work."
  • "The animals were obviously the stars of the show - hearing a lion roar in person was breathtaking and bone chilling all at once."

Cons:

  • "Some of the habitats are great - we particularly loved the sun bears. They were so fun to watch! Others seemed a bit small and lacking and made us uncomfortable."
  • "I felt some of the enclosures were too small for the animals (European wolves, lions, snow leopard)."
  • "The majority of the park is accessible to those with disabilities, as have viewing galleries up high, at lower levels and ramps to enter the looks. Good areas for picnics and food bought through stalls."
  • "Not the biggest zoo being quite compact. This was fine for us as we took the grandchildren for a day out so not far to walk between animals. A fair variety of animals. A good number of benches to sit down and eat at, with some under cover. For the grandchildren there was good play areas for them."

Food and Beverage Options

Pros:

  • "The cafe was good priced and good food."
  • "Food and drinks wasn't too badly priced either."
  • "Food outlets were well priced. All in all a fab day."
  • "The food at the park were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our experience even more enjoyable."

Cons:

  • "Got a mocha from the sun bear bakery, wouldn't rate it much to be honestly, very watery, will try a different drink next time."
  • "The food is extremely expensive do take a packet lunch £8.50 for a jacket potato"
  • "Food is expensive so pack snacks and drinks if you're on a budget."
  • "The food choice and quality was pretty bad, the zoo was underwhelming."

Accessibility and Layout

Pros:

  • "Parking was a breeze, as there were ample spaces available inside the park. We also appreciated the designated parking spots for disabled visitors, which made it accessible for everyone."
  • "The park isn't absolutely sprawling so you're walking for miles but every area has a really good amount of space."
  • "The zoo was really good and lots of brilliant viewing areas (the best viewing zoo I have been to)."
  • "The place is very accessible. Loads of different play areas/soft play. Lots of places to eat, plenty of toilets everywhere."

Cons:

  • "The toilets/baby change: could be better? They were very quickly dirty/ very wet and there were no kid sized toilets or sinks."
  • "Some areas which could be improved. Firstly the exit to get out to the car park could do with being a manned gate, rather than two gates to go through where you have to close one behind you before opening the other."
  • "The only slight gripe was having to pay extra for the dinosaur train which really wasn't a long train ride for 1.50 pp."
  • "The train ride is nice, but to get on there is an additional fee. There is ample parking, a fantastic selection of gift shops and brilliant food places too."
