  • "Parking can be a challenge."
  • "Men's public restroom was out of order and there's a number of restricted places."

Greenhouses & Plant Collections

Pros:

  • "The star of this part is definitely the two large greenhouses housing plants, ferns, palms, trees etc. from across the world."
  • "The glasshouses were incredible, packed with lush, well-tended plants."
  • "Transport yourself to a tropical location in the Greenhouses which are loaded and well worth a look."
  • "Feature of the experience is the glass houses which are simply splendid."
  • "The variety of plant species on display is impressive, offering a delightful opportunity for leisurely strolls and exploration."
  • "Great collection of plants, The Gardens has a wide variety of temperate and tropical flora."
  • "The greenhouses are stunning with the widest variety of plants imaginable."

Cons:

  • "Sadly the most recent time I was in the park at the Botanic gardens the greenhouse itself was closed (covid)."
  • "Nice little walk but guess we went at the wrong time of year as there wasn’t much to see and was a bit of a mess tbh."
  • "The main glass house was also closed, but that also looked worth a visit."
  • "Would have liked some more interpretation boards in the arboretum section."
  • "I do have one criticism: almost everything needs weeding and maintenance."
  • "Deathtrap plants room wasn't that exciting as the name suggests. There were mostly only withering Pitcher plants and a Venus flytrap name board."
  • "Some houses were unfortunately closed due to maintenance."

Facilities & Services

Pros:

Cons:

  • "The cafe is fairly small and if wet the patio is closed."
  • "Rather expensive snacks await you at a coffee stall by the gate. 2 coffees in paper cups and two small cakes costing £13."
  • "The cafe could do with better service or just having food in general, a few things weren't available on the menu that day."

  • "The park has both toilets and a nice little place to grab a coffee, but I think it's not enough. It needs to be more especially to the toilet."

General Experience

Pros:

  • "A wonderful place for a stroll. Surrounded by nature and adorable tame squirrels."
  • "It's a great location to just relax on the grass and let the stress of life pass you by."
  • "Plant lovers will be delighted, vast green area with plenty of room to chill out on grass."
  • "An incredible place! We spent two hours walking through the gardens and the green houses."
  • "A very wonderful place. So many different types of plants, a play space for children, plenty of open space for a picnic and the themed events and other activities are also entertaining."
  • "Very nice and relaxing place to be."
  • "A quiet place with lots of exotic plants, places to sit and enjoy the weather."

Cons:

  • "And if it's a really nice day outside or a bank holiday, the grounds will be quite crowded."
  • "For me, the only downside was that it was way too full of people."
  • "Nice park in the heart of west end in Glasgow but is very crowded on weekends!"
  • "All I would say is try not to go on the last entry at 9.15 as the garden closes at 10.30 and they start kicking you out 20 past so you don’t have a lot of time to explore all the worlds on offer."
  • "However, there are a few negative points which, although it's not the fault of the gardens, it might affect your experience."
  • "Narrow walkways do make it a challenge to navigate with strollers and large groups."
  • "The glass houses are spacious but wouldn't be suitable for wide pushchairs prams or mobility scooters due to the space between the plant exhibits."
