Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Food top notch, their Italian spritzes are great and my husband had the ice cream sundae and it was out of this world!"
  • "Food was simple and delicious all the family favourites with a nice twist on presentation."
  • "The food was amazing and in mid price range....we had dinner and drinks including cocktails rest of the night all for a very reasonable charge of £70 for two persons."
  • "The food was excellent, starter was just enough to get you wanting more but not enough to make you feel too full before your main course."
  • "Food was fantastic, as was the service."
  • "Food excellent and worth at least 50% more than charged for lunch."
  • "The food was excellent - incredibly tasty, cooked exceedingly well, and good portion size."

Cons:

  • "So we decided to visit south west Scotland for a few days and searched all the local restaurants for seafood options (and there aren’t many … don’t know why) and this had great reviews however the food simply wasn’t good enough and we paid £100 for it!"
  • "For our main we had langoustines with chips and half lobster (why half? Clearly it will be pre cooked and frozen) both of these dishes lacked seasoning and the sauce was incredibly weak."
  • "Poor food, even poorer service. Very disappointing."
  • "The meal was no more than oven chips and fish with a tiny follow of mushy peas."
  • "The 'medium rare' filet steaks were outrageously overcooked. Dark brown texture and tasted of liver."
  • "Overpriced mediocre food. You’d be better off going weather-spoons or get yourself some fish and chips and save your money."
  • "The food was good but for the money I didn’t expect thin, McDonald style, overcooked fries with my fillet steak, it ruined the presentation too."

Service

Pros:

  • "Great in these times to be able to go out to eat and find a place that is doing all that is required for covid control and retaining an atmosphere that's relaxed and safe."
  • "New Head Waitress who was extremely helpful - she really made the meal memorable."
  • "The service we received was exemplary. Friendly, timely, and professional."
  • "Had a lovely dining experience here last night.....very friendly warm welcome on arrival...very attentive waiting staff, professional and efficient."
  • "Staff always attentive and helpful and we never feel rushed."
  • "Staff friendly and professional."
  • "Staff were very good and pleasant service was first class did not have to wait too long for meals to arrive and were excellent also."

Cons:

  • "Live singer too much for when you are eating a meal, too loud and added nothing to the ambiance (in fact detracted from it)."
  • "It's a difficult time for everyone just now so we were happy to see Scotts open for business and we had a lovely lunch. Only downside today was that the restaurant was way too hot making it extremely uncomfortable."
  • "I felt the staff weren't that nice, in saying that one was very nice, we asked her name as she was very helpful & her name was Addison."
  • "Waiter wasn't no more than a student weey, who thought they were above the customer."
  • "Be careful with billing, please. I was charged twice for a large bottle of mineral water. Plus, I was charged for a la carte when I'd ordered off the lunch menu."
  • "Very slow service which is such a shame as the food when it eventually came was good."
  • "Service generally was very poor. Speed of service was poor, organisation was poor, attention to detail was poor."

Ambiance and Location

Pros:

  • "Loved it from the moment we stepped in. Food was amazing, drinks were just as good and the ambiance was great."

  • "Lovely view of the marina."
  • "Stunning views over Troon marina."
  • "Located at Troon with lovely views of the yachts and sea."
  • "The restaurant is beautiful and the view from the terrace and main restaurant window are fantastic."

Cons:

  • "The restaurant is the equivalent of IKEA furniture. Looks good at first glance, but after you delve a little deeper, it's apparent it has no substance."
  • "The internal decor at Scotts provides the customer with nice low set lighting and creative decor on the ceilings."
  • "The atmosphere at night is great for any occasion."
  • "Felt quite crammed in inside the terrace area, nice view of the marina, the food was piping hot and delicious."
  • "Bit out of the way so a good walk from the main activity of Troon but plenty of parking if you want to drive there."
  • "Bit disappointed with table which was at back wall. Seemed as if it is put there as an afterthought."
  • "Surroundings lovely with a choice of seating."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "Others comment that it's expensive, but if you take advantage of the earlier supper menu then it's far from that for the quality of food, service & location."
  • "Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food."
  • "Food excellent and worth at least 50% more than charged for lunch."
  • "Has pre Theatre menu on till 6:30 which is extremely reasonable."
  • "Had the two course lunch, which at £12.95 was value for money. Good selection of starters, mains and sweets."
  • "All this was excellent quality and, considering the quality and portion size, very reasonably priced."
  • "Prices are really reasonable for the service and fare on offer."

Cons:

  • "Amaretto is £12.00 a bottle in ASDA it is not 22-year-old whisky. I understand profiteering and costs additional, however this is just pure avarice."
  • "The main meal was good but the desert I had was very over priced for two scoops of ice-cream (£6.75) and cappuccino was £3.40 for a very small cup."
  • "£15.95 for what could only at best be described as a small pensioners fish supper was poor."
  • "The desert I had was very over priced for two scoops of ice-cream (£6.75)."
  • "When you're paying £65+ per person, you can imagine my surprise when I wasn't able to request medium-rare."
  • "Service charge was added on when paying bill with card! Not great service 😕."
  • "I will not be back, portion size was terrible i paid 10 pounds for a piece of bread with cheese and tomatoes on it[bruschetta] then 20 pounds for a single bit of salmon and 3 small pieces of pasta."
