  • "The standout dishes were the fish curry, lamb chops and the daal."
  • "The meat is juicy and fragrant."

Cons:

  • "Given the chefs and pedigree I expected better (I’ve also been to Kutir). The Indian version of Osso Buco was weirdly chewy."
  • "All meals weren't bad but nothing exceptional."
  • "Lamb chops came out slightly rubbery, methi murgh and egg curry could have done with a tad bit more salt."
  • "Parathas for starters, lacked a bit of taste but kichori was good."
  • "However many of the other items were not that memorable."
  • "Most starter items were fried - and it is arguably impossible to get a fried starter wrong. But even these were gross."
  • "The food dishes were appalling. We ordered a wide range of items from the menu and it all tasted of salty chemicals and no authenticity in flavours."

Service

  • "It is a below average restaurant and the prices is very expinsive and very bad service from the employee who I think is responsible for reservations I think he name is Dahram."
  • "Rude staff. Kachori was raw. No filling in aloo paratha."
  • "Mediocre restaurant with complete lack of customer service."
  • "Shocking aggressive behaviour by waiting staff."
  • "Service was... a bit disjointed and slow at times."

Ambiance

Pros:

  • "This restaurant has a beautiful environment."
  • "The ambiance of the place is exquisite and a blend of modern and ancient architecture."
  • "Beautifully lit with comfortable booths; we knew we would have a lovely visit with our good friends from the moment we were warmly greeted and shown to our table."

  • "The restaurant exudes an air of grandeur, resembling a magnificent palace with its splendid decor and upscale ambiance."
  • "The restaurant felt cozy and intimate, with beautiful interiors."
  • "The space inside was small but good ambience."

Cons:

  • "It is a long, narrow restaurant, and they have definitely packed in the tables."
  • "Service felt very impersonal, and not at all up to scratch with competitors like Kanishka and Trishna."
  • "Entire restaurant was empty but they didn't give table to one person."
  • "The one weak area with food was the desserts- either a chocolate dessert or Indian sweet based."
  • "The 'Buttermilk Chicken' garnished with curry leaves and a special sauce was by far one of the best starter dishes I have ever tried."
  • "Mains were very fatty, we didn’t like them at all (lamb, dhal and chicken tikka) and they all tasted of fish (fish oil?)."
  • "Please don't call yourself a family friendly place. Even after reserving a place for my parents and 3 yo daughter, I was refused entry into the restaurant."

Value

Pros:

  • "Had a delightful experience at Manthan! The lunch set menu from Tuesday to Friday is a steal!"
  • "It was wonderful to discover these delicious flavours for a fair and affordable price in such a popular area of London."
  • "The bill for the 4 of us was a reasonable £208, which we thought was a good bargain for such an elegant and delicious meal in the heart of Mayfair."
  • "Now for the price, we found this very reasonable given other places we have gone to and paid way more."
  • "These sets were surprisingly affordable, priced at around £20 each, and included appetizers, main courses, and desserts."
  • "For weekday visits, the lunch set menus priced at £18, £20, and £22 offer excellent value."
  • "Prices are very fair for the quality of food and the flavours really pop."

Cons:

  • "However I was disappointed with the quantity of servings, with size of dahi ke kebab and pyaaz kachori with raita being just like 2 tbsp, and with only 2.5” square of pithore.. it really doesn’t justify the prices."
  • "The only negative thing about the restaurant is that it is too expensive, but definitely worth visiting at least once."
  • "The place is a bit pricy but the quality is great."
  • "We were over charged by £50 for something included on the set menu and put under pressure to finish our meal due to the next sitting's arrival."
  • "The food portions were far too small and weren’t anything special given the price."
  • "Waste of time and money. Claimed Michelin starred chef but I'm disappointed to have paid for such tasteless, raw, overpriced so called Indian food."
  • "I would give one star if I could. I dined here for lunch on Friday and received the worst service."
