Cons:

  • "The steak and ale pie was anemic when it arrived. Both people who ate this reported feeling sick shortly thereafter."
  • "Gone down hill, I had chicken that was disgusting. Tasted like it had been boiled left in the fridge for a few days then fried."
  • "Food quality was quite poor. Had sausage and mash. The mash was microwaved to a near solid state."
  • "The food was very poor quality, under or overcooked and several members of our party have been ill today."

Service

Pros:

  • "Some of the best service I have received. The staff couldn’t do enough to help us."

  • "All the staff are always pleasant and will cater to anyone's needs."
  • "The staff is always very friendly."
  • "Staff are amazing here, really helpful and can't do enough for you... managers are very funny too."

Cons:

  • "We had a money off voucher for main meals but when we questioned the cost of the bill after eating our meal we were told to 'chill out love' several times, by a female senior staff member which I considered very rude."
  • "Staff very over worked manage was very rude."
  • "The service was absolutely shocking totally invisible at the bar."
  • "Food was as expected for the money but our waitress was awful, way too busy talking to her friends that had come for a drink."
  • "When questioned rude staff just said that's how they come from the supplier and walked off pulling a face."
  • "The only concern I had was one of the managers was belittling one of the staff members in front of customers."
  • "Manage was very rude today was a celebration of a wonderful man to be told to keep it down."

Ambiance & Facilities

Pros:

  • "We booked one of their function rooms which was spacious and clean."
  • "This is a great pub/restaurant. Very modern, clean, bright outlook."

Cons:

  • "Our only minor criticism is that there was no grab handle over the bath to assist in getting in and out."
  • "We went too the Old house Newbold for my Aunties Wake my brother was in a wheelchair and we could not get through the gap for the toilet also it was difficult to get round the pub and the way to bar was impossible because of the steps."
  • "Only downside was that we could hear the TV on in the rooms close by and above (and until 2.30am is not conducive to a good night's sleep...you can't help other people's ignorance!)."
  • "The restaurant area was quite cold."
  • "At this point the social distancing went out the window... there was no 'policing' of the situation by the management which quickly appeared to be out of hand."
  • "VERY noisy in the bar/dining areas."
  • "And outside unfortunately natural flowers have been replaced by plastic flowers."
